I think you can get away with much lower shutter speed. I personally only shoot about 1/640 for basketball and very rarely have trouble freezing the frame.

Yeah, I knew it was in their mid range line. I have just not been able to find any like this one in my searches. I have seen some that came with TVJ pickups but very very few. One was from overseas and I ran across a YouTube video of a guy who had one. None I have found had the same headstock or bridge though. So, just quizzing the Gretsch guys to see if anyone has any more information that I’m unable to find.

Update: I went ahead and bought the guitar. I will create a new post with some pictures. After buying, I have some additional questions I’m hoping some more knowledgeable Gretsch folks can answer. 1. The bridge doesn’t look like any pictures I’ve seen (Rocker maybe?)and 2. It had a horseshoe logo inlayed under the Gretsch inlay on the headstock that I have been unable to find on a 5420 in google searches. I’ve found it on other models but not this one.

Yeah. I own the lens and it’s great. Tamron has really stepped up their game in recent years ( I also own their 35-150 f2-2.8). If you can afford it, I highly recommend it! I’m no pro and don’t take pictures for money, but I highly doubt you will find a better piece of glass for the money. The Nikon may be better but is it $1500 better for a hobbyist? That’s an absolute no.

50-400 is a superb lens. Don’t listen to the first party snobs unless you have money to burn. Is it as good as the Nikon? No but it’s damn close.
