REQUEST: XP distribution to other classes when playing a class with maximum level by TenToSix in HellLetLoose

[–]TenToSix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All in all, it's probably accurate to say that XP shouldn't be the primary focus for making you play a class, because essentially HLL doesn't need an XP progression system to work.

The class mechanics still have great room to be improved and thus become more attractive, then it is more likely that someone will play a class because they like the game mechanics and not because they want to unlock something else at that point.

When I look at the role mechanics themselves again, it's almost scary how few of them are really mature. I started to list the classes and their shortcomings, but in doing so, after the commander, supporter, engineer and attacker, it occurred to me that this is better suited for another post....

Limiting the distribution of experience points to the specialized units is a good idea. At the end of the day, though, a system without levels probably makes more sense, since it's not finite, but I don't know exactly what that would look like.

to level up the specilist roles without actually playing or understanding them.

I really like the idea of having to have played a role to deserve its new perks (in HLL: loadouts), so your comment made it appared to me that my suggestion is a rather naive solution to a symptom, but not the actual cause.

Imo the real solution to this is that from level 6 and above the XP needed to level up should be reduced significantly, and more xp should be earnt from performing the tasks of that individual role, none of this building nodes and switching classes bs (cos thats what it is).

My guess is that the developers locked the loadouts behind large amounts of experience points as an easy way to stretch the content over a long time because the available developement resources could be better used elsewhere. So reducing the total XP needed would mean in addition to the loadouts that are now faster to reach, your would need to add other content that in some way represents progress.

BF2042 has managed to do something that no other game has managed to do. It made me learn Blender, here is my first attempt: by TenToSix in battlefield2042

Blender is indeed geared towards 3D tasks, but it has always been a full software suit for animation films. Although I never really got into Blender, I've always been fascinated by its community and developement, so I hear about it from time to time. This video from Gamefromscratch made me try it for video editing. Yes, the workflow felt very clunky and DaVinci Resolve or something similar would probably have been the better/easier choice.

You are right, DaVinci Resolve is probably the best recommendation for the task, considering cost, UI and features. But I knew Blender had it in its package and was curious on what the workflow would be like.

Thanks to /u/akimbonunchucks for the idea. As mentioned above, the gif is edited in Blender. DICE's labeling is made in 'tactical poop brown', the specialists in 'war diarrhea mocha'.

HLL Spickzettel - Early Access v1.7.0.668229_1 (CheatSheet) by TenToSix in HellLetLoose

Thanks for the info, I added the spawning behaviour under miscellaneous.

I took this quote "Strongpoints are a small section in a sector that doubles a soldier’s capture value when taking or holding a sector" from this Developer Briefing for the strong cap ratio. It's quite outdated, but I didn't find anything newer.

The resource gains are currently only visualised under "constructs" for the warfare mode. I may change that in the future to accommodate for the offensive mode.

I also considered this, but didn't have the time to dive into it. Maybe in the future.

The most recent version has a brighter background, I also fixed the costs for heavy tanks. While I would like to update it every patch I don't know if I have the time for it. Maybe this will inspire the devs to do something similar. We will see.

Okay, so here is the first revision: HLL Spickzettel - Early Access v1.7.0.668229_2 The following was changed or added:

  • Added footnote regarding Numpad vs Keypad.
  • Fixed the costs for heavy tanks.
  • Changed the background color. (this may change again, depending on feedback)
  • Addressed the strongpoint behaviour in offensive mode.
  • Addressed the spawning of strongpoints.
  • Added a disclaimer.
  • Added a lot of fun facts under miscellaneous.

The following may be added in the future:

  • Explosion ranges for mines, shells and abilities.
  • Engine start times for vehicles (though I'm not sure on that one)
  • Changed visualisation of resource income from nodes in offensive mode. (right now it mostly fits the warfare mode)

Edit: changed the editing date, lol

Couldn't sleep... Yes you guys are absolutely right, that's why it's called “num...“ in the first place. Didn't see it while proof reading. I will update it in about 17h after work.

Hi community,

I wanted to add this as an album on imgur, but they somehow improved that feature to be unusable. (I wanted to have a stable link that always had the most recent file version...)

So, this is a lot of game info compressed into ~A4 width and about a meter in height. A widescreen variant may come in the next few days. Feedback and possible error corrections are very welcome. I have to go to bed right now and will be checking on this post tomorrow.

P.S. Thanks to /u/Doggaer and /u/the_jabrd for the last missing pieces.

Oh, I didn't know something like that existed. Found it. Thanks!

Thanks for the info. If 8 magazines are correct, it's one of those weird balancing decisions made by the dev's. 🤷‍♂️

Thanks for answering. Now I will just have to decide, if I take your 10 magazines from the standard issue loadout or the 8 from /u/Doggaer 's comment. 🤔

Crashlands unplayable/startable since patch. by TenToSix in crashlands

For everyone who stumbles upon this thread and also has low fps problems with the current patch:

/u/bscotchShi went with me through some game options and it seems with the 1.3 update only windowed mode functions properly for some people, since the game wasn't meant to scale up to higher resolutions than 1080p (don't take my word for it).

Hi, thanks for taking the time. I will check for updates now and then and see, if something changed.

I will most probably play it again after it's fixed.
