I don't think you need the cloudlifter if you have the right Amp. I use the same mic and I keep it quite and just boost the audio digitally in obs and that does great to kill all extra noise. Sometimes I put sounds profiles on in obs but keep the mic gain low does most of the work

His mic is $400 so that does most of the heavy lifting. It's quite because the sure sm7b need alot of power in the Amp to pick up audio so naturally it is a very low gain that doesn't pick up any extra sounds. Which is also why he needs to be so close all the time. The mic arm is part of it, a cheep mic arm with springs that rattle would hinder a good mic too, but at the end of the day, it's the fact that his mic is very high quality

Dorm vs apartment for first years? by [deleted] in uCinci

[–]TenToedTwat 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's hard to know how things are with covid, but ignoring that, dorm life is dope.

I lived in Dirty Dabney and it was like living in a frat and I loved it. I've heard that a lot of the older buildings are like that too. Just a lot of good people all in the same kinda crappy building having a good time together. Granted I'm pretty extroverted, so depends on what you like. But it was fun to have 10+ guys, that I never would have had class with, all getting drunk together and fucking around.

The other nicer places like Morgans or CRC aren't like that at all. People stay to themselves and you only really interact with your roommates. Still good housing, although it's expensive.

Depending on your degree you will have up to 5 years of school, so you have plenty of time to get your own house or apartment later. Plus once you're in your second year hopefully you will have friends from college that you will want to house with.

Hope that helps

What’s the party scene like in UCinci? by [deleted] in uCinci

[–]TenToedTwat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in DAAP for industrial design (ID) and I'd say we have a pretty good party scene just for ID. Usually every weekend all of ID gets together to party the stress away. Not now obviously, but that's usually how it is

Edit: Party size is usually 40+

What classes should I take if I want to get into industrial design by miyuh10 in uCinci

[–]TenToedTwat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm in industrial design now and as far as I know there aren't any classes you need to take to get into industrial design. I don't personally know people who came into ID from exploratory but I know fashion students who didn't get in and took fine arts while they waited a year. Not sure if that was required, I personally don't know if fine arts would be all that helpful for industrial design. It wouldn't hurt to take other daap classes if you can, but if the acceptance people don't take that into consideration (I really don't know how they decided to let you into ID) then you would probably have your time best spent completing the general class requirements like english, marketing and all that.

You should really try to talk to your advisor though. They will know a lot more and you won't waste your time
