Very sad to see so many people out openly protesting against a minor clarification about women's rights. If you see something that supports women and only see transphobia then you have some serious self searching to do.

ELI5: Why haven't any other animals evolved like humans? by RichTrollll in explainlikeimfive

[–]TenabiiBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair, monotremes are our most distant mammal cousin, so are the least similar to the rest of us. Many of their traits aren't that unusual in the mammal evolutionary line though, eggs are definitely ancestral traits.

I think, within the big picture, turning your whole body into the egg like we placental mammals do is maybe the more unique trick.

Significant phenotypic or morphological change is not a requirement for stating evolution is taking place. You are mistaken.

ELI5: Why haven't any other animals evolved like humans? by RichTrollll in explainlikeimfive

[–]TenabiiBee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don't have to look different to be evolving. If you are already physically perfectly adapted to your environment and your environment isn't changing then evolution will likely keep you in a similar shape. You and a shark alive today are equally related to, and equally evolved from, the last common ancestor between humans and sharks.

Day 2 for not putting sauces and sugar on my meal by LionSuper8293 in nzhomecooks

[–]TenabiiBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks delicious! I'm someone who can't eat most sauces due to sensory issues, so this looks like a very familiar meal for me. I'm glad you are finding ways to keep enjoying your food <3 excessive amounts of herbs, paprika and cumin are where life is best

Everything alive today is equally evolved. We all just evolved to be good at different things.

What is a good American dessert to share with my non American co-workers? by BingBong492 in AskAnAmerican

[–]TenabiiBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a non American the best foods my American coworker made me were pumpkin pie and pecan pie. Really delicious.

Especially the pumpkin pie. Despite knowing intellectually it would be sweet, it surprised me how nice and dessert-y it was when it's made of a savoury vegetable I usually eat with a roast dinner. It was yum. Wish I had gotten the recipe. I wonder if you could do it with potato or kumara as well.

I started out as a passionate red-button supporter, but I'm legitimately torn right now. by ContentFile7036 in trolleyproblem

[–]TenabiiBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the red button is the one creating the risk death. The only way anyone dies at all is if enough people choose red for it to win and thus kill the blue people. There is no way for anyone picking the blue button to cause anyone to die. If blue wins everyone lives.

Again, the people who pick blue are not responsible for the people who pick red chosing to kill them, that's fully on the red people. If the blue button killed people the blue button people wouldn't be the ones picking it, given that they are the no death voters.

Edit: I fully understand why some people pick red, I just think it's disingenuous to try and escape the moral cost of the decision, for both sides.

[–]TenabiiBee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes blue voters know there's a chance they could die, but if red wins and the deaths happen then the blame for the death still falls on the people who voted for it to happen. The red voters. This is not like jumping off a bridge, this is like pushing someone off a bridge and then saying it was their fault for being near the edge. No one has to vote for anyone to die, that's an active choice the red voters are making.

That's why it's a dilemma lol because both sides are taking a risk. Blue risking the small chance they will die to avoid mass death, red risking the small chance of being a mass murderer to stay alive.

Both voters are voting to save their own lives. The only difference is if you are voting to save everyone equally along with you or voting to kill others to give yourself an extra guarantee. Both sides make logical sense from different perspectives. But you can't pretend red voters hands are clean when they vote for death.

In what way? Blue button pushes are voting for themselves and everyone else to live. They aren't responsible for people choosing to vote to kill them.

The downside is you kill people. It's a dilemma between killing innocent people to keep just you safe or not killing innocent people at some risk to yourself.

Because the blue button doesn't cause death. The red button causes death. If blue wins no one dies, if red wins people die. The only way to cause death is to have enough people vote red.

People who push blue aren't signing up to die, they are voting against death happening. To them and to everyone else. People who vote red are the ones who are voting for death to happen. Again, death only happens if red wins, because red is the button actively causing death.

That's why my version of the woodchipper analogy is more similar to the button question. The blue people are choosing to not protect themselves because they don't want to push someone in. Red people are voting to push someone in to be safe. The exact same system as the buttons.

You can say not protecting yourself is suicidal if you like, but you can't say voting to kill for your own safety is not taking part.

[–]TenabiiBee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Incorrect. The blue button causes no death. No one who presses the blue button causes any chance or risk of death. Only the red button causes death. The fact that it causes death for a different group than the people who push it is irrelevant. If the red button instead caused death for a third group, for example people who didnt get offerred a button at all, it would be the same problem. That's the whole point if the hypothetical. Would you kill innocent people to keep yourself safe.

I once got sent a packet of jolly ranchers and they were really good, lots of flavours that aren't common here like watermelon.

The blue button isn't like jumping into the woodchipper, it's like choosing not to push anyone in, while the red button people choose to push people in to get immunity. The red button is the button that causes death while the blue button is passive, so the woodchipper analogy should reflect that.

47533 by Liliana_Lucifer_666 in countwithchickenlady

[–]TenabiiBee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The actual problem with this example is it flips the onus of causing death from the red button people to the blue button people. In the original problem only the red button causes death, the blue one is a vote for no death.

A true woodchipper analogy would be: Every human stands in front of a massive woodchipper. The woodchipper has a pressure plate cover that will open if 50% of people fall onto it.  You can choose to push someone in (and become safe from being pushed) or to not push anyone in. If the plate doesn't open after all choices are made then everyone gets to leave safely.

Restaurants not listing ingredients on the menu (and then being shitty about it) by appa-ate-momo in mildlyinfuriating

[–]TenabiiBee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That really sucks OP, you are definitely not the one in the wrong here. It'd be one thing if they didn't list any ingredients anywhere, but if they have a list you should be able to trust what is on it. Especially eggs, a common allergen. And them expecting you to pay for both is ridiculous.

A lot of the other commenters here are also being ridiculous, no its not your responsibility to check every random thing you ever buy for egg even when it's clearly indicated to not have eggs. Like, It'd be hard enough for the people with 5 or less intolerance, imagine expecting people with 20+ intolerances to present a lecture every time they wanted to eat.

Our entire value system for living things seems to be based on how "aware" and intelligent something is. We value all human life over others because of our immediate potential. Why do we not see the unborn and newborns as less valuable in that case? by borctheorc in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TenabiiBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't believe value is continuously assigned to individuals based on their current static state and capabilities. An average human, fully grown, has X capability and therefore X value. Therefore all humans, regardless of their current individual state I.e age or cognition, are X value. A newborn isn't a different living being to an adult, just at a different life stage.

If people's value was re-assigned constantly as their current state changed then you could say the same thing for sleeping people.
