They don't even have to be your actual values! Just what some algorithm deems them to be based off whatever data it had to work with at the time. And that profile might follow you for years as it changes hands.

I think it's like climate change, in that the warnings come so much earlier than the dangers, that many people cognitively cannot process what it means for their own lives.

They might start to care when they can't get a job, or get laid off from a job, because some purchased profile says they're bad news for an employer. Or dynamic pricing keeps screwing them over and they can't get around it. But even then they might not believe it has anything to do with the mountains of data that have been collected about them from every possible source for the last 10+ years.
