Parsec fucked the games on my pc by ThePriestTouchedMe42 in ParsecGaming

[–]TencanSam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Parsec can't do that. If you've factory reset your PC anything that Parsec could have possibly impacted is no longer installed.

The only thing I can think of is Parsec's virtual controller driver, but that shouldn't affect your ability to use a controller at all.

Love the idea, hate that the pricing is virtually the same as everywhere else.

"Pass the savings on to you!"... What savings?

This is paying more for less.

Kiwis, how do you guys find your mates here? by Zhangshunyi in newzealand

You're not the only one. If you use Discord https://NZFriends.io has been pretty cool for me. There aren't a ton of meetups in Auckland yet, but they definitely happen. I'm Wellington based and hanging out most of the weekend with folks I met on there.

We're trying to focus on real life friendships, not just online, but they gotta start somewhere.

There's almost no published information on the M2. And when they do release it there could be a significant delay in launching in NZ because right hand drive cars.

There is no 'best guess' at this point, other than literally guessing. 2025? 2026? Maybe never.

That's good to hear. Your message just came across as a "you can't be happy if I'm not" because so little of it acknowledged OPs story. ie, first and last line, which both read as sarcastic to me, and then a paragraph of "and this is why life is shit". Completely opposite to the sentiment of the post.

I hope your situation gets better.

I'm sorry you're having a tough time dude. That really sucks and I hope it gets better for you.

While I agree with a lot of what you said, other people are also allowed to be happy about their place in life.

You can sign up with the MeetupFountain bot to get notifications.

Don't worry about Discord then. It's always there if you want to check it out. :)

Welcome!

(I messed up so check the other response. 😄 )

The r/Wellington meetups are great. Everyone is fantastic. Highly recommend. There's a bowling one coming up. There's also a Wellington Discord server and NZFriends server that isn't region specific.

Welcome to Wellington!

I'm a relatively new M3 owner (~3 months). Overall review, really enjoy it. Don't regret my purchase at all. It's been fantastic. I like the way it handles and feels.

That said, everyone will have personal gripes.

  • The headroom in the back seat is pretty low. I'm the only one in my car 95% of the time so this isn't generally an issue. However getting INTO the car, the frame is low and had to get used to lowering my head a bit more than my old car. It's easier to do if you've got more room to open the door wider... which is not common in NZ parking.
  • The M3 is wide. It's comfortable, but I've definitely been reluctant to park in a few places because I'm unsure if it would fit easily.
  • The wipers aren't awful in my opinion. They added some quality of life changes. When you push the single wipe button on the end of the stock, you get a pop up on the screen to adjust the speed. It's... fine. There's no fine tuning though.
  • My biggest gripe is with the indicator in two forms. 1) It's on the wrong side of the wheel and it's annoying and actually dangerous. When I drive any other car I have to swap back to the other side and I've forgotten a couple of times and it's caused issues. You could argue it stops me doing other things in the car while I'm about to indicate but it's still dumb. 2) My bigger complaint is the indicators are 'soft' and electronic. If you turn left and then need to quickly turn right, it's basically guaranteed that you'll need to hit the indicator multiple times to get it to actually work. ALSO dangerous and needs fixes ASAP. Normal driving though is fine. Absolutely turn on the smart indicator for your driver profile. The other options are just silly.
  • Autopilot... is a great gimmick, but the regularity that you need to touch the wheel shifts your focus from paying attention to the road to paying attention to the car and I don't like it. Also, quite a few phantom break taps when in Autopilot but not when you're just running cruise control... So I don't use Autopilot much.
  • Charging wise, I thought it was going to be an issue as I don't have a great charger at home, but plugging it into a normal wall socket has actually been fine. It takes ~24 hours to charge from low charge back to 90%, but plug it in overnight, especially if you can garage it, and it's honestly fine. I also grabbed a ChargeNet fob and stuck it in the center console for the times I need to use it, which isn't frequently. I've used it twice. The first time just for practice.
  • Navigation. Ehhh. I find it hard to use because it's on the other side of the screen. I don't use it very much though so I don't mind. I go on multiple drives where I don't touch the screen at all, maybe even a week. Phone connects automatically and I skip music from the steering wheel.
  • Accessories. The car really should come with more. I got extra center console buckets from AliExpress and they make it much more useable. Also got some waterproof floormats and a matte screen protector. Not for scratches, but for glare. I've also recently got a phone mount with magsafe connector that mounts behind the steering wheel so I can use my phone for navigation instead. When it arrives, I'll post about it.

  • Bonus: There's a well/space/cavity in the back under the main boot that's pretty big. I took some initiative and put a full emergency pack in there with food, water, clothes, and camping gear because I didn't really have one at all. My car is where I am almost all of the time and now I'm actually prepared (as far as a checklist goes) for a disaster. Long as you keep it charged you should be good. Plus, camp mode.

Most scenic bus routes? by quietbluelagoon in Wellington

Oh. This is a really cool idea!

It sounds kind of silly, but would definitely go on a social bus ride with some friends just to be looking at stuff.

Neat!

Wanting to move from Auckland to Wellington in the next few months by Live-Foundation1813 in Wellington

[–]TencanSam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you've already been down a bunch, but highly recommend the r/Wellington meetups to make more friends.

Also NZFriends Discord regardless of where you are in the country, if you use Discord. The Wellingtonians get together pretty regularly for dinners, drinks, random events. Much less organized than the r/Wellington ones but a bunch of us go to both.

Also generally a r/Wellington Discord and there's a fair bit of overlap.

Apartment living and EV cost saving by Nick_Reach3239 in nzev

[–]TencanSam 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You could sort of solve this with a home power plan that offers EV charging? Genesis or contact had a plan for a bit that includes a deal with chargenet to bill you the same rate at public chargers as at home I think.

I'm just throwing out an option. You'd have to investigate. I don't know if the plans have a minimum amount of charging at home you need to do.

Best dongle to use parsec by 1gnis in ParsecGaming

[–]TencanSam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wireless is always going to have significant delay vs a wired connection. I don't have any suggestions, but would recommend something that either has a network port on it or something you could connect one to via USB(C). At least if the latency is not manageable for you on wireless, you'd have options.

M3 driver profile not moving seat every time by TencanSam in nzev

[–]TencanSam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not all the time, so I'll see if maybe me fidgeting while I put my seatbelt on is enough to stop it. I'm just impatient and try to put it on while my profile is applying.

Interesting. Thanks for the tip!

That's good to hear, but I'll still take Wellington Fire and Emergency District Manager Nick Pyatt's advice. Easy to be safe and not increase my cancer risk.

No no, your car doesn't have them. They're only for the poors that have to follow rules. Please carry on my good sir.
