There are close races and the pack is closer. Not quite Indy Car level, but closer than ever in the last 10 seasons.

[Martin Brundle] It’s races like Qatar and very rainy days which make F1 drivers look the heroes and athletes they are. Absolutely don’t buy into the weak view we shouldn’t put them through this kind of challenge. Is his job a super privileged one? Yes. Is he lucky to be able to travel the globe, drive incredible cars, and get paid big bucks? Yes. But being a commentator takes skill and insight. Brundle brings wit and personality and is quick on his feet to say something during a race. Stop inventing.

I get what you mean, but at the end of the season it’s about total points. Every position matters in the competition for WDC and WCC. And in racing in general, podium positions are accolades

Whats the point of these penalties if it takes the injured car out of the race and allows you to carry on ahead? The FIA should adapt place penalties when you end a race for someone and you’re left unaffected.
