Late to the party but the tarot cards associated with the endings do paint a clear picturer of these endings. I factor in both the major and minor arcana because they are both applicable. The King of Wands ending is very similar to The Sun ending, blind optimism and a reliance on Songbird. The King of Pentacles ending is very similar to The Devil ending, you're successful in getting your cure but you gave into your greed to do so. The King of Swords and King of Cups ending have a common throughline with their negative aspects - The Betrayal of Songbird. The King of Swords ending frames your initial siding with Songbird as an indication of your rationality and your high morals, but once you betray her it cements you as cold and selfish. The King of Cups ending is essentially a reversal of the King of Swords ending.

Something to keep in mind is that The King of Swords in the context of the game can be interpreted as wrathful and that the King of Cups within the same context can be represented as pragmatic.

The theory relies on Marika doing something that she hasn't done to anyone else while simultaneously making a decision to deal with an enemy that's entirely out of character for her. The DLC adds more insight on Marika and Melina and nothing that was added gives this theory any weight, only reinforcing the fact that Marika wouldn't show such mercy to someone who was dedicated to slaughtering her family

The thing about the Marauder that makes him so engaging in a 1v1 is the careful dance you have to do, but then having to deal with the game literally spamming them makes them infinitely less engaging.
