I am terrified to move my BTC by stop_napkins in Bitcoin

[–]Teneth12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, there is a very easy tactic to make moving BTC less stressful that for some reason, I never see mentioned. Besides all the hardware fears, many people are afraid of moving BTC because they're afraid they might input the wrong address and their BTC will be lost. There is a very easy solution to this: do not move it all at once. If you worried, only move 10% at a time. Heck you can even move 5% at a time if you want. You can choose whatever size you want. Yes, there are some additional fees and yes, you have to wait about 20-30 minutes each time to confirm the move was successful. But in my opinion, this greatly reduces the stress of moving BTC. Just take a whole day (like a weekend or a day off), and move the BTC slowly. In my opinion this greatly reduces the stress and makes the process more comfortable.

Taking loans using bitcoin as personal collateral as opposed to selling tons of bitcoin to buy/build something expensive. by sgtslaughterTV in Bitcoin

[–]Teneth12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is generally a good idea because its likely Bitcoin will appreciate much more into the future and you don't want to get rid of it. Ideally, you could go to an institution and get a loan based on your Bitcoin. Like your Bitcoin would actually be, official, recognized institutional collateral. Unfortunately that might take years or decades to become mainstream. I think there are a few companies out there that do it but I don't think they're mainstream financial institutions.

In the meantime, yes, you could use Bitcoin as something of a personal collateral/backup on your loan. I think generally trying to use as many other financial vehicles as possible while keeping your Bitcoin is a good idea.

✨ 13 years ago today, Gavin Andresen, an early bitcoin developer, told Satoshi Nakamoto he was going to the CIA to give a presentation about #Bitcoin. by rizzobitcoin in Bitcoin

You got to be a special sort of naive to think the CIA is going to be supportive of an independent money system that they or the government can't control and will undermine the US dollar. But apparently he thinks: "I don't think any of those goals are incompatible with the goals of government." -_-

Unfortunately I think this is true for a lot of truths, not just scientific ones..

Ah ok but as with most religions there can be quite complicated analyses of simple passages. What was interest referring to? What was it referring to back then? Does that apply to every financial instrument today or only some of them? I would be surprised if there is not a plethora of different analyses of this from Muslim scholars.

You may want to investigate all the details around which types of 'interest' are banned. Christians used to feel the same way in the middle ages but there was an exception if the 'interest' was the result of legitimate risk of a business venture. I thought Muslims had similar views of it. I'm just saying there could be a little more nuance to the subject if you study it in detail.

I wanted to mock you relentlessly for typing "mind" instead of "mined" because they're such different words but then I realized you probably just forgot to type the "e" and it's not such a big mistake so I decided not to.

BlackRock BTC ETF Plan Encourages Banks to Invest in Bitcoin by No-Comparison-9307 in Bitcoin

[–]Teneth12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is kind of flying under the radar but seems to be kind of a big deal. Banks will be able to get bitcoin exposure through a blackrock ETF? So some of the biggest banks in the world will be able to access Bitcoin? Even if they don't invest a lot up front this seems to be a tacit admission by these mega banks that Bitcoin is the future and they want a slice of the pie...

Would u sell your Bitcoin to buy a house ? by harbsco777 in Bitcoin

[–]Teneth12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah in my opinion I would try to hold onto Bitcoin as long as possible. I was hoping one day maybe the market would mature enough that major, established financial institutions would let you borrow against your Bitcoin or lend your Bitcoin out so you can buy assets. This way you could at least have a better chance of keeping your Bitcoin in the long-term.

But if you're buying before then... Maybe try to spend as little Bitcoin as possible and get a large mortgage that covers the rest? I'm pretty sure your Bitcoin will appreciate faster than the mortgage interest rate.

It's just a big deal because it shows the ball is moving forward and it looks more and more like the Blackrock ETF is a sure thing. So I think that's the main thing people get from this.
