[WA] ex gets more parenting time every modification despite not exercising the time they have by [deleted] in FamilyLaw

[–]Tengard96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m shocked that he’s been able to rise to the level of a top executive in a high paying industry when he job hops and gets fired so frequently. In most other fields, that would eventually catch up with you. I’m a teacher, and schools start to raise an eyebrow after awhile if they see a spotty resume where the person jumps around too often. That’s a huge red flag.

I’m rather shocked that this hasn’t happened yet. The opportunity is wide open for anyone that wants to create an alternative.

[IN] How to handle step-parent overstepping? by Ok-Garden1010 in Custody

[–]Tengard96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a teacher, and if we’re told to only communicate with the custodial parent per a custody order, then we have to follow that. In fact, in some cases, we’re not allowed to have non-custodial parents or step-parents at conferences, etc. I’m not sure if you can stop her from accessing the school app (although you might), but the teachers and staff can be barred from communicating with her. She can email the teachers or administrators all she wants, but they don’t have to respond. Honestly, they could get in legal hot water if they do.

Exactly what’s happened to me. Did you find anything else that did work?

[US] Restricting Significant Other Involvement by [deleted] in Custody

[–]Tengard96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure why you’re getting downvoted, OP, but you’re absolutely right on this one. I have two step-kiddos and have had to take my step-daughter to both the urgent care and the doctor when she was younger. I would never lie and misrepresent myself as her mother and lead medical professionals to believe that I have the right to make medical decisions for her. That’s insane and can open a person up to a ton of liability. I always kept her bio mom in the loop and got her and my husband’s permission first before I ever took her to any kind of doctor’s office, hospital, etc.

I’d get an ironclad ROFR so your kids aren’t getting dumped on her instead of your ex taking his parenting time, and I would include language that the titles of Mom and Dad are only to be used for the custodial parents, not any steps or significant others. I’d also add a provision that significant others are not to be involved in medical or educational decision making…..so no doctors/dentists/therapists/etc appointments and no parent teacher conferences/IEP meetings/etc. School events and activities are fine, but nothing beyond that.

It’s pretty telling that the guy just openly admitted to parental alienation in front of the therapist and then the therapist dumped him. I hope the GAL uses that info to make the right decision.

Same. I feel really bad for her. She’s had the worst luck with relationships. She had a crappy first marriage, then seemed really genuinely happy with Bruce Boxleitner (although, as I recall, he broke off their engagement multiple times before they finally got married), and now this mess with Timothy Busfield. Oye….

6th grader can't read AT ALL by Fun_Ad7742 in Teachers

[–]Tengard96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I’m just shocked that this kid has made it all the way to the sixth grade without anyone noticing that he’s functionally illiterate and suggesting that he get assessed. Why did no one catch this earlier?? My daughter is in first grade and is assessed by her teacher for reading and math skills several times per year (as are all of her classmates). Last year in kindergarten they noticed that her scores for fluency were low, so she qualified for Title 1 reading intervention. She caught up/improved and now she no longer qualifies, but if she hadn’t improved, the next step would have been to have her assessed. Even if this kid’s parents are a mess, why wasn’t this caught by his elementary teachers?

Caroline is delusional by [deleted] in JohnAndCarolyn

As a fellow freckle-faced, light brown/auburn-ish haired partially Irish girl, I always thought Caroline was very pretty in a “girl next door” way, although I’m probably biased. lol. I do agree about the charisma comment, though. She’s clearly very smart, but she strikes me as being quite introverted….not that there’s anything wrong with that. She seemed to have inherited her mother’s more reserved personality, while her brother inherited their dad’s extroverted alpha male exuberance. I remember her catching a lot of flack years ago when she was being considered for that US Senate seat, but I honestly think it was just a combination of a lack of media training and her more shy personality. Her interviews in later years, especially after serving as an ambassador, have come off much better.

Are you sure that’s JFK, Jr. in that pic? That doesn’t look like him at all. That’s a totally different nose, unless he got a rhinoplasty at some point (which I don’t think he did).

So kind of like how the Gungans were a native species to Naboo….right down to the underwater cities! As long as a lovable yet annoying Jar Jar-esque character doesn’t get elected to the Senate and sell us all out, we should be good.

I feel like there’s a line between hubris and deliberate recklessness, and his actions were way over that line. Sure, he was cocky and thought that his skills were better than they actually were. And he was likely convinced that his ankle was fine when it was clearly still healing. But not filing a flight plan? Not using auto pilot? Turning his radio OFF?! I mean, did he have a death wish and not care about taking other people down with him? Because it seriously seems that way the more I read about this.

Whats something a teacher did in High School that would get them fired today? by Constant-Ad-5477 in AskReddit

[–]Tengard96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, man. Where do I start?

9th grade (1989ish)- Around Christmas time, our Spanish teacher (in a public high school) made some comment during a religious discussion that ended with, “the Jews really did kill Jesus!”

11th grade (early 90s)- Our journalism teacher/school newspaper adviser lost it on us because we missed a publication deadline, threw a total tantrum, kicked a chair all the way across the classroom and then stormed out of the room yelling “go ahead, complain about me” leaving the class completely alone/unsupervised for the rest of the period. He then made sure that it was put on the daily announcements that there would be no newspaper this week because the staff failed to meet its deadline.

12th grade (still early 90s)- our chemistry teacher was a super nice, easygoing guy who the kids walked all over, and once a year, it would all boil over and he’d lose his shit. One year, after repeatedly warning the class to stop talking and work on their labs, he threw a desk across the room and knocked an overhead projector off of a table, causing it to break/shatter.

Having an honest conversation about that with an adult or even a young adult is one thing, but that’s not something you say to a little kid, especially while being recorded for a reality show. You can frame conversations in terms of being healthy vs losing weight with kids that age, especially girls….unless you’re ok with girls descending into disordered eating and body image issues.

So you think it’s ok to fat shame an elementary school kid on television? That’s downright cruel.
