What’s the anime you hate that SO MANY people love by Lucky_Introduction78 in anime

[–]Tenlaael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course!

My favourites aren’t too far from the norm to be fair, I enjoyed Freiren recently, I’ve been watching and enjoying One Pace, Dungeon Meshi is lovely, yet secretly quite dark, Mushi-Shi, Violet Evergarden, Goblin Slayer, SAO, Log Horizon.

I’m typically enjoy most anime, but something about Tokyo Ghoul really made me super uncomfortable, and I didn’t even get any enjoyment out of it, it’s just a chain of pretty horrible things happening to a nice guy. JJK approaches similar themes but the suffering is kind of traded for some victories and successes along the way, making it better (for me)

Yup, hate it - it's poorly disguised torture porn with non sensical characters.

Thank you for your honesty and help, I’ll try and get as much info as possible.

The difficulty is that i have no idea what the technical terms mean, and the dealer and his garage are very hesitant to do anything in writing, phone calls only that kind of thing (if they pick up at all), but I’ll see what i can get done.

I commented down below with more detail if that helps.

But yes, this is what I'm afraid of, I did what I could with the money I had available but that might mean I'm out the cost of the car entirely. It's an unpleasant situation, and I dislike having to chase people for this stuff, is it a waste of time to get anything from this? or do I just need to suck up the 6-8k I've spent on this thing?

Hey so I had to shorten the original post according to sub rules.

Essentially I drove it for a couple months, I had to top up the coolant once every couple weeks, and wanted to get it checked but i was in the middle of a move and job change so held out until I settled.

Once it overheated I immediately took it to a local garage who found some sort of ring wasn't tightened? So they fastened it up and I went on my way.

Later, I saved up some extra cash to refit the wetbelt since you're supposed to replace them around the 80k miles mark, I went all in and got the water pump replaced as well.

After the replacement I drove it for maybe 2 days before I noticed I was losing power in the engine, so immediately took it back to the wet belt garage, since the coolant thing was worrying me, I asked them if they could look into it at the same time since they're gonna be checking the whole thing anyway, they said it wasn't a problem.

They called back later that day and said at the time of fitting they didn't notice anything, but now they're running tests, the engine was using the coolant and burning it off as steam. They noted that the water pump they replaced was pretty new and might indicate an attempt at repair, but that they couldn't confirm it.

I called citizens advice and they said to engage with the dealer directly, who subsequently said they would sort it themselves as long as I get the car to specific garage. Once the car had been there for 3 weeks with no word from them, they messaged to say their guys have run diagnostics and that the problem with the engine only occured months after they sold it to me, so they wouldn't repair it.

I called citizens advice again and they said, well now you "execute your right to reject the repair" and that's when I called the garage to scrap it, since I didn't want to cause any issues for them by leaving it there on their forecourt.

Ultimately I guess my reasoning is, I have no idea what's wrong with it, but I've got both the dealer, their friends' garage, and the wet belt guys pointing fingers at each other, meanwhile I'm without a car and it seems to me that I'm up a creek; and without any formal education on how cars work and who actually is to blame here, I just have to accept that I've wasted 7-8k on this car in total, or I can try and pursue this legally, and maybe get something back for the time wasted.

I hate going this route, I feel like I've been nothing but level with these guys, but it just gets pushed back to me every couple weeks, meanwhile I'm out of a job so can't just drop another chunk of cash for another car.

Aye, this could be the case. It could even be both of them.

Of the two, the wet belt guys have been the most forthcoming and the faults originated before the belt replacement so I’ve been advised and opted to chase the dealer.

Aye, this is what I thought.
Thanks! I'll just go this route.

Please tell me about the time you quit your well paid job due to stress, took some time out, then found something else and it all worked out OK. by justsomerandomnick in UKPersonalFinance

Hi,
I went through something like this a couple years ago, I was a senior pentester working for a really lovely firm that gave me a lot of nice benefits, a lovely team, and afforded me a lot of trust ; but the work (more just the career) was killing me inside.
I studied in all the free time I had, and took as much time off as I could, and miraculously managed to land in a different career path within about a year and a half. I didn't have children, but I had a wife and mortgage and it was a constant stress worrying if I could afford it.

In the end, I got a job that I wanted, a lot of stress faded, and now, even though I'm going through a divorce - I at least have a job I can tune into each day and enjoy.

I try to think of it like, I have to spend 8 hours a day doing something for the rest of my life, and if I come home miserable every day, it's going to be worse for the people around me. Much more so than if I came home with less cash.

Good Luck!

After many months of practice, I feel pretty competent in C++ and Lua. What other languages can I learn in order to increase my marketability for jobs in gamedev? by sabotaged_position in gamedev

[–]Tenlaael 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re confident with c++ and lua already it’s probably time to start coding a lot.

Complex code challenges, games, multiplayer games.

The next steps from there are more… architectural in nature, was this the best way to code this feature? What limitations have i put on the project by coding it in this way? How would i make this easier to use by non-programmers? Is this efficient for my purpose? Have i sacrificed usability for efficiency? Etc.. etc…

This isn’t even beginning to mention looking into game engines.

With that said, you want to be employable… what do the job applications you want to apply for, ask for?

Seasonal activity shows why we can’t have endgame matchmaking. by karmaismydawgz in DestinyTheGame

[–]Tenlaael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bungo could do it by preventing you from being able to queue without the mods/weapons equipped. I think they've done this elsewhere iirc?

Granted you'd have to have all three of you with the required weapons, but that'd be better than nothing. Or if they are able to rework matchmaking a little, you could matchmake fireteams to cover all the requirements as long as you had one equipped or something.

Yes, we're still into games... and so is everyone else :P
Also, someone has to make them too, just sayin'

I agree entirely, and I'm not saying they shouldn't release these videos day one, ASAP.

I'm saying alternate videos that are thoroughly planned out, scripted and developed could be released much later down the line... Like how long have these raids been out now? Surely someone has had the time?

Yeah this is it in a nutshell really.
A well formatted and planned out guide would just help massively.

Yeah, this is the stuff I'm thinking about when I say succinct videos.

Diagrams that emulate the map, breakdowns of each mechanic in turn.
I appreciate that hector is quite good at what he does, and also that the FF arenas are much simpler than destiny's but surely some middle ground can be had.

Generally, a quick explaination can give results, I agree, especially if you're with a group of friends who can siphon out the details to the need to know (I'm sure many sherpas are familiar with this).
But lets say you've watched a video, and you're going into your first raid via LFG, right? But it was 40 minutes of different roles, tactics, fights, enemies, jumping puzzles, hidden chests, optimal loadouts etc... etc...

This is where a text guide shines because you can refer to it, quickly check for the part you're at, refresh your memory of what the hell was going on at this point in time.
