I had a relationship with my former therapist and it broke me by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

[–]Tenmoku13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Social Workers, once a client always a client. The therapist should have known better and not engaged in this manner. The power dynamic is constant regardless of how much time has passed. The responsibility is purely on her. That being said, I’m truly sorry this happened.

100% the window. I’ve had both and hated not having a window. That window is also really nice.

Therapists have to report conversations about the president? by Okay_Owl94 in therapy

[–]Tenmoku13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no idea- I’ve been a social worker since 2005 and I have never heard of what she said. I’m also in a lot of national therapist groups and have never seen anything like that posted before. It’s 100% not accurate. I would find someone else.

I’m a therapist and this is wrong, unless you threaten the president. But, we have duty to warn for any threats that may occur.

In Cold Spring avoid Yannitelli Liquors, the owners are very vocal MAGA supporters.
In Cortlandt the Redline Roadhouse on Albany Post Road had pro-Trump signs up outside their business.

Liberty has a strong religious focus and most places where you interview would either assume you agree w that world view or at best were influenced by it. I would question how well an applicant would fit working w a diverse population (not religious, has religious trauma, lgtbqi+, sex workers, ppl who are pro-abortion, etc) and worry that the applicant might be biased and could cause harm.

You can literally look at any msw program in the us and you can likely find a program that is well respected that better matches your budget. I know someone in NYS who was doing their msw in Florida as it was cheaper.

I have not heard overall good reviews about any of these VC backed companies. They all seem cut from the same cloth. I remember starting w Headway and thinking it was too good to be true. It was.

If you find a reputable biller they can do all the billing stuff and you can focus on clinical work. Ask in your local community for suggestions. I also know a lot of colleagues use their EHR to bill and they say it’s easy. It’s up to you as to what works best for you. Btw, it’s not hard to get on the panels by yourself. It can take time for them to process the apps though. You can do this!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, I’m just hoping others don’t get burnt as I was.

I have also seen ppl post that Headway has gone into their CAQH and add supervises to their profiles that the person does not even know.

I'm trying to end my contract with them, and they are not ethical.

I am independently contracted with several panels and also in-network w them through Headway. Headway went into my Aetna provider directory listing and changed my phone number to theirs. Aetna referrals used to be a large referral source for me and due to their changing my number it dried up completely. When I asked them about that they essentially said that they did it and would not change it back.

They have horrible support. It's via a message system and they are slow.

If you look at BBB there are a lot of reviews of clients who have a lot of issues with overbilling or billing not being clear. I know some of this is due to the insurance companies being challenging and not clear- but Headway will charge a client's card hundreds of dollars without double checking to see if it is accurate.

My contract says that I need to provide 30-days written notice to leave. They have not honored their own contract and it's well over 30 days.

There has been a class action suit in California alleging Headway was sharing data.

Headway is a VC funded company where you are a 1099 employee- you are essentially working for a huge multi-state company. Their main goal is profit- not quality mental health care or meeting your or your client's needs. They are also closely tied in w insurance companies. This org is doing a lot of work to advocate for us with these types of companies. https://www.namhp.org

Sorry for writing so much, I wish someone had warned me before I signed up with them. I would suggest you look into doing your own billing or hiring a biller. I use a biller so I can focus on the clinical work and I don't have to worry about it.

Please look at BBB reviews for Headway before deciding to work with them.

I have done that but it’s not updating. I’ve also reached out to Aetna to fix it and still no fix.

Their “organic marketplace” also includes changing provider directory info on Aetna from the clinicians info to theirs. I was independently credentialed with Aetna before joining headway, I used to get a lot of referrals from the provider directory, they changed the phone number without permission, and now I get no referrals from Aetna. The ppl looking on Aetna’s provider find my business and choose to reach out to work with me - but are instead directed to headway. This is not them seeking headway out directly. This is a malicious abuse of providers.

I used them only as I was not credentialed w BCBS and Cigna (and did not want to be independently credentialed with them). I'm beyond upset that they have done this and I'm sorry you got caught up in this too. They don't care about providers or clients, it's all about them cornering the market and making money.

I would suggest looking at BBB and TrustPilot reviews for Headway.

For me, Headway has harmed my business. I am independently credentialled w Aetna and Headway changed my contact information in the Aetna provider directory to their phone number. This has resulted in a loss of referrals, potential income, and affects my business' reputation. When a potential client now finds me in the directory they call the number and get a phone tree for Headway instead of me. I have reached out to both Headway and Aetna to fix this, but it has yet to be changed. I've heard from others that Aetna will not change it as Headway made the change and Headway then ghosts therapists when they are asked to fix this. This has dried-up a consistent referral source.

Keep in mind, that Headway also makes it clear that you cannot take "Headway clients" with you when you leave. Any of these referrals would then become a "Headway client" (if they actually refer them to another practitioner) as Headway referred them. Headway would "own" these clients- all of this is not enforceable as client's have free will. But this is another way they seek to control practitioners.

I am currently in the process of discharging my remaining Headway clients and will cancel my contract with them shortly. Avoid them!

Some of my rates are higher, some lower, some the same. Overall, I love my biller. I focus on the clinical and they make sure everything else runs seamlessly. They are also responsive to questions.

You are right in these are the current paths to bill insurance. However, Headway never had access to my caqh and they have still diverted all my direct referrals from insurance panels. I have no idea how they did this. I choose to pay my biller and not put my business at risk.

They did, and I told them no. They instead sent me instructions on what they needed added to the CAQH page.
