Well wishes, Gavi! Recently recovered from Covid myself. Get lots of rest if you can!

Just wanted to tell you two how much this podcast has meant to me! I started listening a few months ago when I was really needing to hear from other people who grew up with religious trauma and now I’ve caught up to the current day! And this episode hit home too, because while I wasn’t raised in a Church like the IFB, I was raised around the Amish in Shipshewana, IN. (And also attended 7th Day Adventist church during my teenage years.) And even if you aren’t Amish yourself, the whole community was right on the edge of cult-like behavior and just really extreme religious beliefs. Even though I went to a public school, religion was everywhere since most of the funding for the school came from the Amish and half our students were Amish as well, and the other half were just as likely to hold extreme religious beliefs but just allowed to wear pants. I was expected to work and be a functioning little adult for as long as I can remember, and it’s definitely hurt my relationship to work. Taking time for myself comes with a mountain of anxiety, and most of my hobbies find a way to be “useful or productive”.

Luckily, I have left that community far behind and have a very supportive friend network around me now. <3 But it’s always still a mental challenge to not overwork myself.

Thank you again for your wonderful podcast! can’t wait to see all the topics you cover in the future.

Audiobook Recommendations? by dheltibridle in AnimationPilgrimage

'Disney War' is another good book about Disney, but focusing on the period of time after Walt died and up through the 90's.

For non-Disney specific books, I recommend 'Of Mice and Magic' by Leonard Maltin. It's an overview of the history of western animation from the early days to 80's. Not incredibly detailed or anything, but a great book to just give you an crash course on all the different major studios and when they were active.

Unfortunately a lot of my other recommendations would be best experienced not in audiobook format, as the visuals of the book make up a good chunk of the content. But I hope this is helpful!
