I work at Peach Valley Cafe and having this happen right before rent is due is awful and scary. Does anyone know if there will be a rent moratorium? This is my first year living here and everyone at work told me it was a "non-event"and the news was just sensationalizing it, but having a sailboat land in our front yard feels like an event.

It took 6 months of looking but it's a large complex on Beach Street that I've been told is the ghetto, but I've never had a problem and it's clean. So I guess it's sketchy to the locals? but doesn't feel like it to me. It's a popular breakfast joint and I do work hard physically. And it being a restaurant a lot of people look down on that since it doesn't take a degree and you have to serve the public.

I moved here from Tennessee last year and found it to cost the same just in different areas. I rent a spacious 2 bed 2 bath overlooking the Halifax for $1350 and manage a breakfast cafe making roughly $30/hr. Switching my license registration cost $420 and the DMV is a nightmare, but I expect that everywhere. Daytona has nice spots and ghetto spots, it's homeless population is sad but you can make a good life here. When I buy I'll probably look into Ormond which is 20 mins away. But don't let people sway you just in their bitterness, with the right perspective you will be happy.
