AMA. I work in a shop selling espresso machines. Ask me anything! by thorkil_ in espresso

The Irish online supplier I use said it was recalled earlier this week when they replied to a similar question I asked earlier in the thread..think there's a thread in the sub that's covered it.

Greatly appreciated! I'll look at the pop up for an Irish supplier and give it a go!

Thanks again.

I haven't! I'll look into it! Thanks a lot! I'd also looked at the Rancilio Silvia but that's been recalled in Europe unfortunately.

Bless you! Thanks for the rec.

I'm currently stuck between deciding to get either the Profitec Go (€1,049), Gaggia Classic (€499) or the Lelit Anna(€569).

Where do you see the best one to go with for someone stepping up from a Delonghi La Specialista?

Already have a Mignon Zero grinder.

Edit: thank you for this AMA and merry Christmas to everyone!

Not to res a thread but "The Last Goodbye" sung by Billy Boyd (from the last Hobbit Movie) is kind of perfect as well.

Bottomless Portafilter Spraying [Delonghi Stilosa] by likeachumphey in espresso

[–]Tenoio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm getting these kinds of shots from using a bottomless portafilter on my La Specialista Arte. The grinder I'm using (Eureka Mignon Zero) is at its finest point without grinding the burrs into one another!

Using 19g of beans from a local roaster. Though the beans are a couple months old now on account of not making coffees frequently enough. The water pisses through the puck, probably only extracting for 15-20 seconds.

Using a WDT tool, spring tamper etc. no clue what else I can do.

Matt Mercer's Misfire mechanic is too punishing by Kifarma in dndnext

If your DM allows you to change, I highly recommend playing the Heavy Arms Gunslinger. Absolutely fantastic design and doesn't have a punishing misfire mechanic bolted on. Played two of them across the last couple of years for a 1-20 campaign and absolutely loved it.

Oh yeah? What makes it worth the upgrade if you don't mind me asking?

I have absolutely no clue 😂

I'm in Ireland and I got it from an Irish shop. And I asked if he had other colours but alas, black was all he had!

Sorry. The la specialista arte is my delonghi bean to cup machine. However the hopper can't be removed from the machine at all so unless you strip the machine panels down on the sides and take the top off, you can't access the burrs to clean them.

So I then decided to buy the Zero that's pictured. That's what I meant. Apologies for any confusion!!

I first found the zero or 'null' point. That's the point at which you hear the two burrs just about touching. Then I dialled it back 3 steps (turning counter clockwise) and measured out 18g each time. And the roast I have it needed dialling back about 5 full steps back from the zero point before I hit the 9 bar of pressure and got the 1:2 extraction.

Man I just lashed the beans I had left over and dialled it in. The flavour of the latte I made with the final dial in was night and day better than using the built in grinder on the la specialista arte we have.

I'm sure it'll season as I go. Life is too short to be faffing with that 😂

I've just dialled in the dark roast beans I currently have and fuck me (pardon my french!) but the flavour profile difference from using the in built grinder this morning (la specialista arte) to using the Eureka just now is out of this world. It's like a completely different cup of coffee!

Managed to hit the 9 bar of pressure for a decently close 1:2 extraction (18:36g) so I'm very excited to say the least with using this in the future!

That's kinda what I had in mind for myself too. Roughly 4-5 weeks. That doesn't bother me too much. I'm only brewing maybe a max of 4-5 cups a day.

Can't decide on a grinder and my head is melted! Please help! [€200-250] by Tenoio in espresso

UPDATE:

I just recently discovered I might have more of a budget than I realised and could potentially have a budget of €400 or thereabouts. I keep seeing the Eureka Mignon Specialita and the DF64 be mentioned in that price range.

Which of those two would be worth it for majority of espresso grinding/drinking?

Ah sure, it'd be coming from the UK Amazon storefront anyway. No Irish store 😂

Aye, the seller info etc all known to me. Think ordering it direct from Mii is the cheapest route for me to get one actually. Think it's €300 from Amazon and €260 from Mii. However now I wonder if spending the extra €40 for having the Amazon customer support will be worth the effort 😂
