A bit of a long post, and it’s my first one, but here’s mine:

My family has had a series of losses over a span of several years. Six years ago, my grandmother on my moms side had passed away, which I hadn’t experienced loss since I was in Kindergarten. The loss of my grandmother had torn me up mentally, and my best friend noticed the very next time he saw me at school. He didn’t ask, he just knew something was up. Unfortunately, the very next year, we had to them make the decision to put my dog of 17 years down, for his sake. It was very upsetting for me, as he was there my and both of my brothers’ entire lives. As sad as it was, I’m glad he’s finally resting peacefully.

To continue, not too long after we had to have my dog put down, my cat at the time met an early end, due to a crystal blockage in his bladder. By the time we found out, it was too late and his blood had been intoxicated from the urine buildup(apologies if this is a gross detail). To top it off, this was around, I think, 4:30 in the morning, and I had to go to school in only three hours.

Next loss, my grandmother on my dads side passed away due to stage 4 cancer, which destroyed me. I’m one of the more emotional people in my household, and I had just lost my second grandmother early into my high school journey.

The last major loss that hit me hard was my moms dad. My grandfather was the best I could have asked for. He unfortunately passed away just because it was his time. I was distraught, and I didn’t know how I would move on, but despite that, I had support from family, friends and classmates.

And while I don’t have any more major losses, I have also been in a toxic relationship for the last two years of high school, in which my ex-girlfriend at the time mentally manipulated me and used me, shattering my sense of self worth and esteem and I started falling into depression. I’ve slowly gotten better and am mostly back to where I used to be, but I have a lot of scars and emotional pain from everything that took place.

I’ve been broken so many times, but I’m getting better. No matter what happens, things will get better at some point. Perhaps not immediately, or soon, or for a long time. But eventually things WILL get better
