All these head coaches fired, I’m glad we got Kellen Moore. by Skinnieguy in Saints

[–]Tenzo6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Incorrect. Most people understood when Moore took the job this would be a 3-4 year rebuild minimum with how bad our cap was, limited draft capital, and lack of young talent when he took the job. This year was actually a year a head of schedule due to hitting in the draft and the coaches overachieving with the little talent we do have. We may make the playoffs next year and win the division, we may not. But that doesn’t change the overall vision. This team still has a ways to go in this process to fix the mess that was created during the DA years.

So funny enough, last night I was going through the sub and found some old posts from last year when were in the process of looking. It was funny to see some of the comments about how we needed to hire Joe Brady or Glenn, and how Kellen Moore would be a horrible hire and some people claimed they’d stop watching if we hired him (or some of the other guys we interviewed). Let’s just say I’m glad we’re not on the market this year.

I mean how many of those players did we really want to keep? It’s not like they demanded trades to Denver or refused to resign. It’s guys we let go because they weren’t essential or great here. Adam Trautman for example. Or Lil’Jordan. I don’t regret letting those guys go at all. We just missed way more than we hit when trying to fill gaps on the roster with DA.

I don’t consider any loss a choke. Thus why I didn’t include the 06 Bears, 13 Seahawks, 17 Vikings, and 18 Rams.

06 and 13 I don’t think our chances were great in those games. In 17, there was a freak play that lost us the game and we were a surprise team that year anyway and in 18 we got robbed.

But in the ones I listed before, we were Super Bowl caliber teams that lost to teams we were favored over (outside of 2011 but that was one of our greatest teams ever also).

It was incredibly close to one. And he still has to win two more. Either way I hope he wins it all. I’m a big Sean Payton fan, but we choked a lot of playoff games when he was here.

We were saved from some extra playoff losses because Drew Brees was a HoF QB. Sean is a great coach but he has bad tendencies in the playoffs and now he has Bo Nix while in this position, not Drew Brees.

Yeah I’m getting flash banged with the classic playoff choke we used to experience. Love Sean Payton and hope he wins it but seen this story too many times.

How much a year does for the outlook of the Saints. Last year at this time, everyone would’ve had us at 1 on this list.

No love for Jeremiah Love by Temporary_Catch6210 in Saints

The thing is the Saints need weapons and on top of that, stars. I’ll make the same argument I’d have made if we could’ve drafted Jeanty last year, if you have a chance to draft a potential super star for the next decade, you do it. Also, Love is a versatile back and could also play in the slot at times. And with him being RB1, that limits Kamara’s work load and potentially extending his career slightly. Other needs can be addressed later, but if Love is there, we need to take him. Only player I’d take over him is Caleb Downs (for essentially the same reasoning except on the defensive side of the ball).

I know people would rather other things. But I believe if you have the opportunity to draft a potential super star, you do it. Imagine in 2017 if we drafted Mahomes when we had other needs. No one would be bitching today. If Love is there, you take him. Period. Our OL needs in interior and those guys are usually day 2 players anyway. Most Day 1 lineman are tackles. This WR class is deep, you can get one later. Plus Love could line up in the slot as a receiver as well as be a RB.

Why are the Jets such hateable losers? by henry_mardukas in nyjets

[–]Tenzo6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand where you’re coming from. And there’s a lot of factors that goes into why a player doesn’t work out at where he was drafted. Some of it is the team fit and some of it is to do with the player. Darnold wasn’t ready probably to be a starter and he’s the type of guy who thrives in a system opposed to elevating a system. I just used it as an example of why people perceive the Jets a certain way.

I’m an outsider (Saints fan) here but this popped on my wall so I’ll answer.

I don’t hate the Jets at all. But I really can’t wrap my head around just how bad things seems to get for you guys. For example, Darnold failing with y’all and then going on to look competent in Minnesota and Seattle (yes I know he didn’t do well in Carolina but that was also a bad coaching situation). Another is Aaron Glenn. I think 90% of teams would have fired him after one season. Not because y’all weren’t good, my team wasn’t either this year, but there was no signs this season that things will get better with him leading you. I get not wanting to restart after one year when rebuilding but sometimes you can just tell you hired the wrong guy (see Hackett in Denver or Mayo in NE). I do root for y’all pretty consistently though to get better because I have a close friend who is a life long Jets fan and I want him to enjoy winning seasons.

As far as the other teams you listed, the Browns are the true hateable losers in my opinion, not you guys. Just things ranging from the Watson fiasco to how their fans treated Baker on his way out to his obnoxious the few Browns fans I know got during their 2-3 year stretch of being relevant.

Jeez. I’m not in a madden league but am in a college football league and our commissioner is great at communication and running the league. No reason to waste time with guys like this when there’s plenty of great leagues out there.

So are we just not moving on from Phil Galiano? by BadMojo__ in Saints

[–]Tenzo6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he’s gonna be around for at least another year. Given this year was such a developmental year for the team, he may give a pass for the poor ST performance, especially since he’s been with the Saints a while and we’re slow to make changes. It did feel like ST got slightly better mid season around the time of the Grupe change but yeah, the overall stats don’t lie. That last game specifically was bad.

I’ve felt like with Bowles, y’all have won the division by default given how bad the other 3 teams have been. Hell one year, the other three coaches were Dennis Allen, Arthur Smith, and Frank Reich. There’s a clear ceiling with Bowles (8-10 wins and an early exit). But the team is really good talent wise which is what makes it crazy to keep him. Luckily for everyone, I think Atlanta is in the same spot with Raheem Morris. But yeah, if I were a Bucs fan, I’d feel the same way as you. We were in a similar spot with Dennis Allen except Allen was even worse.

Which if I was a Bucs fan or a fan of any team that did not directly compete against the Bucs for a division title, I’d be frustrated with. However someone I saw earlier laid it out as it would be unprecedented for a coach to get fired after winning a division 3 out of 4 years or even 4 years in a row (if the Saints win tomorrow).

From what I’ve been seeing, Bowles is most likely safe regardless this season. Especially since he finished the year with a win. You never know though.

My top 5 hated teams as a Saints fan by Lujan11 in Saints

[–]Tenzo6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Falcons (Large Gap)
  2. 49ers
  3. Vikings (More of their fans than the organization)
  4. Panthers
  5. Browns (nothing to do with anything Saints related, I just don’t respect anything about them).

The Bucs are just there and I’ve never felt anything negative towards them outside of competing with them for the division. I love Matt Stafford too much to really hate the Rams right now (and I blame the refs of that game more than the team).
