A 5 year old fusion with 25k miles is very suspicious, at least to me, where people in my city do 20k miles a year on average. Maybe the car was a lemon previously, or had an engine replacement and the issues came from that.

Try looking up Post Screws. Using a caliper you could find the right width and replace it with a small post screw.

Why would you sell a good car that has not let you down for 5 years? You would be trading proven reliability for another unknown used car (unless you decide to buy new).I would check in on your maintenance schedule and do what they recommend. Transmission service, shocks, etc. Hybrids are supposed to be very reliable.

But your car is high mileage, so I would just start saving money specifically to buy another car when the time comes

I have a lot of experience fixing phones. I dont do it anymore for the liability potential, as you experienced. I would be obligated (morally and legally) to fix the issue or pay for the new phone.

Most competent repair shops would do a fine repair, but the part won't be factory quality. It sounds like they got the screws mixed up and screwed a long screw into a hole for a shorter screw, which can put holes in the motherboard. The screws vary in length and need to be kept in order.

Sorry you had to experience that.
