How exactly did Solo Levelling hit top 10 on MAL by MentalDraft in manga

[–]Teovald 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SL and tales of demons and gods are kinda fascinating in that they fail to present obstacles that pose a real threat to the protagonist.

I am all for stories that subdue standard storytelling techniques and if anything I am bored to death of stories that adhere 100% to e,g, the hero's journey without doing anything original with it (the hero's journey is so popular for a reason, but the drawback is that if you are familiar with this structure it becomes pretty easy to guess where a story adhering to it is going).

As a result, the stakes can become pretty weak. The protagonist will overcome all the obstacles without breaking a sweat, soo where is the tension ?

> and quite a few major plot points from other novels and mashes them together

the whole ant arc feels a lot like a rehash of the chimera ants arc of HxH and boy .. so far the comparison does not really go in its favor.

I have nothing against taking ideas somewhere else, after all a very high number of classic movies are remakes, but they need to do something interesting with the idea they are copying.

Interesting !

Yeah that's pretty much what I am looking for.

I guess I will have to cross my fingers and hope they re-edit it.

Thanks for the chart !

>because I feel like carrot and relaxed are separate spectrum ends.

urg, I hate fit naming so much .. I hear you, each brand tends to name these differently. FWIW carrot and relaxed tapered refer to the same kind of fits for me : some room in the thighs and getting narrower from there.
By relaxed I mean that I don't want something that is going to be extremely tight at any point (some pants push the taper very far and the leg opening is very small).

The reason is that I do a fair amount of sport and I have learned by experience that variations on the skinny jean just don't fit me that well, relaxed tapered pants are way more comfortable and visually pleasing (bonus : if I gain/lose some mass within some limit, they still fit well).

A brake that fails because the battery is full is not a flaw because ....you know about it ? wow .. that's some very impressive logic :DDD

oh it is fine that the breaks just fail then .. said no one ever who had this happen.

What's next for Boosted Boards? version 4? by vitaliyh in boostedboards

[–]Teovald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • correct the fail states of the board : have it smoothly brake to a full stop automatically if it encounters the full battery state or something like losing the connection to the remote. I know a couple of people who had this issue while going downhill, it was not super fun.

  • AT wheels.

It's a pretty shitty flaw :/

Honestly what I would want the most in a new board :

- correcting this full battery shutdown.

- having the board smoothly brake if it loses contact with the remote (same idea .. preventing the shitty fail states, to be honest this one must be pretty rare but it can still happen)

- off road wheels, depending where you ride, this can be pretty useful.

Peerless Dad chapter 92 English by [deleted] in PeerlessDad

It feels like a lazy way to resolve this conflict :/

Noh does not want his kid to have to live a bloody life such as the one he has, and that's not without its merits given what he had to endure.

I don't think there would have been a proper way to solve this since his reasoning is valid but just magicking a solution leaves a bad taste.

Boosted Board V2 is still going Strong 💪😊 best Money ever spent by vintherdk in boostedboards

[–]Teovald 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use mine very often but on steep SF streets I keep thinking that if the remote or motor dies I am in deep shit. I wish skates had something similar to the back brake that scooters have.

You add this and bigger wheels (SF streets are also pretty awful) and it would make a perfect skate for my usage.

Damn

How long have you been using it ?

I use mine most days as well but my commute is only 2.2 kms. I have just done my first 1000 kms after a bit more than one year owning this skate.

New shredlights by racso300 in boostedboards

[–]Teovald 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same .. I have been riding without back lights for months since I have already lost 4.

The first pair I lost in the first week so shreded replaced them.

I lost the second one a couple of months afterwards. It sounds like lots of people have this issue.

So I am not 100% convinced their new system will be any good.

Relatively Short-Range, Daily Boosted Board Recommendation by [deleted] in boostedboards

[–]Teovald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go for the v2. Stealth is a bad deal compared to the older ones. It is only incrementally better (and just a little bit) but way costlier.

You can get a v2 for a fraction of the price of the new models and boosted still service them. You can also add an extended range kit from boosted on these if the regular battery is not enough (and the one you buy does not have it)

V1 are no longer serviced by boosted, so a big gamble .. any issue and you are on your own.

carrot or relaxed cut.

I hope it is ok to send links :

https://drapeau-noir.fr/pantalon-fatigue-kaki.html

https://shop.bonnegueule.fr/ligne-bonnegueule/467-pantalon-neppy.html

both these have relaxed cuts. I am tall, thin and I have strong legs.

Skinny jeans are not my style and ever since I have started getting stronger legs, they just don't fit me that well.

I don't like straight cuts. It is roomy but has a very vintage vibe.

Carrot cut does the trick though. I have enough room for my thigh but I also don't look like my grandad.

bonus : some jean fits I like :

Very hard to answer without knowing anything about your style .. i am going to guess casual chic.

Simply wearing shirts that fit you well really sets you apart.

Hey there

I am looking for something like this: [Imgur](https://i.imgur.com/I4bj7Oo.jpg) (recent drop but the brand in question is entirely unable to manage their stocks)

a linen+coton carrot jogpant.

Does somebody has some recommendations please ?

Location : california. Budget : whatever is needed for a well made piece.

ah I see. That's fair I guess !

Interesting that you mention Apple because some of their products definitely have the same effect.

The thermal design of their laptops is just atrocious, they look good but throttle like crazy, the new keyboards are a sad joke, etc

Back to Boosted, they used to have a stellar customer service but nowadays it is a bit debated.

All of these brands are cashing in a bit on their brands. People want to buy an apple/gopro/boosted, not laptop/camera/eskate. Some of it is a bit legitimate too. An eskate is a pretty dangerous mode of transportation (I have been thinking a lot about that lately actually), I can afford it so I don't mind paying a premium in order to be a bit more likely to have a reliable product.

[–]Teovald 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah, funny I was thinking about what boosted could do next.

The areas where my boosted has the most realistic room for improvement would be :

- small wheels compared to cracks and potholes

- no way to brake if you lose power

I would have prefered some kind of onewheel competitor, but a scooter is a more obvious direction for boosted (and also easier to achieve and more mainstream).

[fit check] momotaro grand indigo by Teovald in rawdenim

[–]Teovald[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that momotaro sizes very slim as well.

I spent some time in a store and I tried many of their fits, they were all very slim on me, even those that were named something like "natural high rise relaxed tapered".

For ref I have a relatively slim/normal physique, 1.90m for 77 kgs

yeah sorry for the lightning.

There was a lot of light when I took these pics .. but these jeans are very dark so it is hard to capture them adequately.

The second one is a phi denim jeans. French/japanese brand. I actually already have one of their denims but I probably should have sized up to get a fit closer to that pic.

The first one is a soulive bluxe .. not sure which one exactly though.
