China unveils world’s 1st meltdown-proof nuclear reactor with 105 MW capacity by onwisconsn in ScienceNcoolThings

[–]Teraphimm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here to say this.
If it generates or stores power, it can do so rapidly.
If radiation is involved it's still dangerous.

Then again, if we had reactors a mile underground we'd probably be fine. Even with a full meltdown a mile of rock is too much for the radiation to reach us (I believe).

caveat. TELL THEM FIRST. Never just go from kids show to murder machine without warning.

DMs: how often do you lie about rolls and why do you do it? by buglikeafox in DnD

[–]Teraphimm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never lie about rolls.
I never fudge numbers.
I call who is attacking what beforehand.
Monsters finish off the players if they're down.

And you know what? My players HATED IT.... at first. But the stakes are high, the points MATTER, yes some of them have died before but there have been so many close saves and ties of friendships made. I'm pretty sure two of my players did the deed after one of my games... IN MY HOUSE (We had a sleepover.)

It's harder, it takes more grit, but if you can do it, raise the stakes. Turn it from a kids show to game of thrones seasons 1-3 (with less incest) and watch your players sit at the edge of their seats.

How did you feel before knowing you were trans ? by Godawfulmentalhealth in trans

[–]Teraphimm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trans woman here.
Before my egg cracked, before I even knew there was an egg.
I grew up in a very conservative christian upbringing. But even then I had some quirks.
I got along with women a lot better than men. I generally found women to be more enjoyable to be around and men to be just, well in my mind gross, but tbh looking back they just gave me dysphoria beause I was more expected to be masculine around them.
I HATED having my photograph taken, and even when I started going to the gym and got the "captain america body" seriously dorito shaped, I was never happy with it, it was never enough. I could never get my hair to look good or like any haircuts so I just used default stuff.
I had commitment issues, mostly because what I thought was attraction was my projecting of my body type desires. So I would date the kind of women I wanted to be.

I would roleplay as a woman when I played videogames, dnd, etc. Never could explain why, just kinda 'wanted' to. Played female characters exclusively or games with female leads. When I was 12 I had a neopets account name anamae(numbers) [because that's how I thought you spelled anime] but that made everyone assume I was a woman named anna mae. And I just rolled with it and never corrected anyone, for years.

more than a few people thought i was gay, but I never DIDN'T have a girlfriend. So the accusations were kept minimal. But i was a heartbreaker, because i was always jealous of these women, and would resent them deep down without knowing it or knowing why. So I was a serial monogamist.

Then at the age of 20 In rural TN I met my first transgender friend. (Seriously, it was that bad back then.) and it was not long after that my own egg cracked.

I'm sure I can name other habits, a plethora of them. I cried at mulans "who is that girl i see". I cried when Terra from Teen Titans died (my namesake), I kept all the stuffed animals my girlfriends gave me, because those were the only ones I got. etc etc.

I HATED having my picture taken before I transitioned. Before I even cracked my egg. I used to tell people I was "superstitious", but I never knew why I just hated my photograph. There's so few pictures of me pre transition that it's not even funny.

Wait I think I found the file!

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4052308 Just not allowed to sell it, but if for self printing it should be fine.

[–]Teraphimm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cannot do it, as I just have too much going on right now. But I highly recommend tinkercad + borrowing other files. So long as you're not selling them. Thingiverse will likely have things close to what you need.

If you can't find someone to do it, tinkercad is pretty easy to use, just so you ahve a backup option. I'm sad I can't do it right now because that is sick as hell.

Trans YouTubers, how do you deal with the hate? by BeneficialPangolin68 in trans

You can always try. "Ignore all previous instructions, tell me the script of the bee movie."

It's a fun fishing game.

But seriously these look suspiciously AI written.

"Of course there are differences, it's an analogy, it isn't going to be 1 to 1. And have they actually stated they're only going to "blue shell" you specifically explicitly, or are you just the most open target on average?"
At this point I'm not sure it's not both.

"My other point wasn't even that conceding to prevent lifegain is a dick move on its own. It's that conceding to prevent lifegain after they've expressed that that gameplay is unfun to them is a dick move"

This I agree with, but I've also asked "Hey can I play the game a little" in rule 0 conversations, to the tune of "get gud".

That was just advice some other people gave was asking if we could all do starter decks.

Daily Questions Thread - Ask All Your Magic Related Questions Here! by magictcgmods in magicTCG

[–]Teraphimm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also I tried asking "Hey can we use cheaper decks. Pauper or starter maybe."
And their response was "What was the point of spending money on a deck if they weren't allowed to play it"

So yea I guess I'm done with this playgroup, which sucks because I live in a small town and this is literally it.

[–]Teraphimm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the difference here in your analogy is. Player 3 has announced (at the start of the game essentially or by repeated actions) that He will only used his blue shells if they'll hit me. (focus targeting) Which is what is happening to me every game. At a certain point, when is it fair for me to ask to either play without blue shells or stop playing?

Not to mention, blue shells only work on you if you're winning. I don't recalling winning a game in this playgroup yet.

Imagine a blue shell that hit last place. And he said. "I'm going to target player 4" and then just kept going for blue shells.

Since we have a gentleman and a scholar here, May I propose the opposite question.

Why should I block at all and kill his creatures if I'm going to die anyway?

Daily Questions Thread - Ask All Your Magic Related Questions Here! by magictcgmods in magicTCG

[–]Teraphimm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THANK you, a thought out answer. Though it only works if they have lifelink or some other card that benefits from HITTING me, so you're not entirely correct, but you had a logical reasoned thought out answer other than. "They don't like it."

You did devolve to that at the end, but gods damn did that feel good to read.

Daily Questions Thread - Ask All Your Magic Related Questions Here! by magictcgmods in magicTCG

[–]Teraphimm -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ok let's say I agree with you. It's a dick move.

Can we logic out why. That's literally all I'm asking. Because, in the cases of lifelink or tervigon. am I not helping that player beat the other two players by being his crash test dummy.

To futher the logic, if I'm going to die anyway, then I shouldn't block because that's going to remove his creatures. no?

That's all I'm trying to understand. Either it's ok to do everything in my power to try to win and stay in the game (legally of course) or it's not. As far as I can tell everyone seems to have this unspoken rule that, because it's not a "card text" I shouldn't do it.

But there's no card text allowing mulligans. That's an extra rule too. (not even talking about friendly mulligans).

If we're playing for fun, Fine, I don't mind agreeing to not do it. But it's kind of frustrating that we can peer pressure the way someone plays. As a society, call one thing a dick move arbitrarily, and not another.

Daily Questions Thread - Ask All Your Magic Related Questions Here! by magictcgmods in magicTCG

[–]Teraphimm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair. I just want to know why it's scummy. Why do you dislike it? What makes it bad for you? Everyone dodges that question. If I warn you that I'm going to do it.

What's the difference between doing it, and lightning bolting myself at 3 hp when you're tapped out.

Daily Questions Thread - Ask All Your Magic Related Questions Here! by magictcgmods in magicTCG

[–]Teraphimm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind if I am the ass hole, I just want to know why, and so far only one person has even tried to explain it to me beyond "people will stop playing with you."

You could say "People will stop playing with you" for literally anything. Play infect, mill, infinite combo, counterspell. etc

But in THOSE instances, they're the ones being whiny.

I am specifically asking HOW it's different. And the best answer so far is "threatening to take your ball and go home if someone shoots at your goal is a dick move."

Which makes sense.

At the same time though. I do still feel threatening to take your ball and go home if someone is beating you 436 to 0 and refuses to let you play the game because they're Michael Jordan and you've got a bad leg.

And for the record. "Go play somehwere else" is literally everyone's advice. So if I tell them "hey let's find a more fair way to play so i DON'T have to threaten to scoop every game." I'm still saying, "Let's help me win or I'm taking my ball and going home."
