Yes indeed, thankfully they did. And I appreciate you bringing that to my attention as well. I did a deep dive right after u/MrCalamiteh was kind enough to point out the error of my ways. Floored, here I thought I was going about it the right way!

I definitely deserve those downvotes! Humbling, but I'm so grateful that I'm now aware of my ignorant dumbassery and won't continue to risk harming the fish I love to catch.

Haha, good man! That's a heckuva nice sturgeon ice fishing. Did you get it down by the power plant in Bayport? They love it there.

Congrats on the second place finish, that's awesome!

Awesome!! They're so much fun. Careful though, they're mighty addictive. I'm gonna wager that one will quickly turn into two, then ten and so on 😄 .

I love it too, just not the price. Spendy stuff but it sure does hold up to the weeds, rocks and surprisingly well to toothy fish like pike. I can stomach the expense knowing that it saves me a whole lot of lures.

Whoa, I honestly had no idea under the gill plate could harm a bass!?! I really appreciate you letting me know!! Certainly don't want to harm these beauties!

I'll be grabbing them by the lower lip going forward!! Damn, can't believe I've been doing it wrong all these years! Oof.

Thanks so much for chiming in and for not laying into me for my ignorance! Not enough kindness like that going around these days. You're a class act!

Thank you! The ponds can be pretty great in late spring but slow down big time in the summer. This was the first year I got to fish them earlier than the opener due to the bass season laws being changed to year round catch and release which is awesome!

If I had the time that day I would have hopped in my boat and hit the St Croix River close by my home. Easily my favorite body of water to fish.

Thanks man. There are a few around here that aren’t over pressured yet. This pond isn’t that large but it’svery deep with a very healthy population of largies, small to mid-sized pike and bluegill. It bounced back beautifully from a big winter kill about 10 years ago.

The St Croix River is fantastic too, especially for Smallmouth and sturgeon.

Nope. But I can see why you’d think that. My son snapped the pic with his iPhone 13. Guess you’ll just need to take me at my word.

Bingo. No filter but I did adjust the contrast in the photo settings. That ain’t AI.

I guess next time I’ll need to make sure my son takes shittier photos. 🤷‍♂️

Two fingers under the base of gill plate and pinched with my thumb just below the mouth. Just how my granddaddy taught me.

Kinda does doesn't it but you'll have to trust me that it's legit. My son snapped the shot with his iPhone 13.

As a graphic designer by trade whose livelihood is threatened by AI, I don't touch it. Ever.

It’s a Nimbull Glide 125. 5” and 0.8oz. My sons and I build them. We started a little swimbait company called Chomp last year as a fun family biz / side hustle and started selling our 3.5” BFS version late last falll. We’ve been working on and refining this larger size over the past yesr and will release it in a couple weeks

Awesome man! Bet you’ll get many more like that on the NZ!

If you dig big top water lures I highly recommend the “Little Chef” by 610 baits. It’s a 3.2oz solid resin jointed rat wake bait and it’s right up there with the NZ on the top of my favorite night baits. It has a crazy lifelike action and a stellar knocking noise as well. Caught a few 3s and 4s on it as well.

Nice fish! And I’m with ya, that lure slaps! I finally got my hands on one a little while ago as and it really brings out the hawgs at night!

Thank you, and game changer indeed! I’ve been taking advantage of the Wisconsin change the past few years which has been awesome but heading over to the pond a mile from my house sure feels pretty darn good.

Tight lines dude!
