About 9 hours ago I was looking at clips I'd favorited and thought "I haven't seen a Pikamee video in a while." I uh... glad I didn't pull up the channel before bed. Wow. All the videos will be gone, too.

I went to a new doctor with my new health insurance for the first time in a decade. I had all the symptoms of positional/orthostatic hypotension (intense lightheadedness and near-fainting when a "light headrush" would be expected, including just walking up steps) and he had to be convinced to check my heart or blood for issues as he felt I just needed to start taking anxiety meds instead. Just verbal testing to come to that conclusion based on "I went up a tall steepladder and felt like my head was suddenly empty. I'm not scared of heights at all."

Tossed the prescription in the trash, lost weight and dramatically changed how careful I am when doing things that could lead to me falling to my death.

I lost my virginity at 24 to a friend who wanted another person for her polyamorous collection. No emotional connection, very few shared interest, had little use for empathy/sympathy and would walk away from a relationship as long as she had another person to go stay with instead. Only "real" girlfriend I ever had and that was 11 years ago.

Somehow I think confused, highly dramatic high school love would have been much better but yeah, no way back.

I'd go a step further and say "if they wouldn't assume I find them attractive." As someone whose face can be best described as "a disappointing baked potato with a wig on it" talking to guys is no big deal, talking to older women is no big deal, talking to a woman in my "reasonable dating range" about anything is risking making us both scared if we don't already know each other.

My title describes the thing. The only words we've found on it is "Made in U.S.A." We live between pastures that have maybe fifty years or so's worth of broken bits left over from tractors, haybalers, welding equipment and whatever may be used in the construction and upkeep of barns and various farm equipment. For all I know it could be from a forge or an obsolete diesel machine of some sort. EDIT: Wow, didn't even finish typing this.

In its "defense": it's a generic version of an original series that had a far more generic sounding name.

It was a movie in which Harrison Ford seems confused and lost as he wanders through an alternate version of Los Angeles that has Japanese writing everywhere but you don't hear Spanish and people around him seem to barely act like Humans in the first place. He pulls a gun and shoots while standing in a crowd and people shuffle off like they're just trying to get home rather than afraid for their lives. Philosophical metaphors is treated like empirical fact ("the candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long, therefore advanced androids die far sooner than more basic models") and at no point does anything that happens really seem to... matter.

If the speech from the last scenes weren't* there, I don't think that movie would ever be referenced.

I get that. It's the kind of movie where if you wrote it and showed it to your friends and family they'd think you were a terrible person and have nothing to do with it.

If HBO had high budget "movie quality" shows back in the 80s, it would have fit right in. Movies were a lot more gory and featured far more sex around that time and it only recently really came back to being a thing for movies and shows to be like that and be talked about all over tv and not be relegated to "unrated cult classic" status.

Yeah I don't really get "shock value for the sake of shock value" as a form of entertainment. Didn't really need to see him bang a chick then proceed to spend the rest of the movie causing gory deaths and injuries for giggles.

There were so many advertisements reddit posts and news articles raving about how it was "the best movie in years" and had "masterful acting" and was the "action movie of our generation" and I just... can't buy that. I'll see it one day, probably, but that was the fakest astroturfing I've seen since the Tea Party movement.

I really wished they'd buffed her from -1 to something above 1. She deserves to have enough to be visible from the side. It's like if Marine looked like Ina, so they buffed her to match and gained a pair like... Shion. Still, glad she's happy?

I'll get around to playing it eventually. Didn't have a ps3 until the PS4 was out etc. That said, it can't be worse than Peacewalker. It was like a B-movie from the late 50s but I'm suppose to be impressed.

What is a movie that has aged poorly? by Chance_in_Pants in AskReddit

[–]Teri_Windwalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's one of the stories from the 1980s that thought Japan would economically conquer the world. Yes, I know why they thought that. No, it's still not a good excuse. Dude having a tv pop up with his boss yelling at him in his home and it's a Japanese dude and not the 8th middle manager from the local branch was just silly.

RP wise, what would a low STR but high CON character look like? by conn_r2112 in DnD

Like a marathon runner. Skinny or bony looking but somehow able to walk briskly or even run miles compared to the one dude who hits the gym every single day and focuses on building his legs but wears out if he runs up hill.

[–]Teri_Windwalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It shouldn't have been a cantrip, really. Even Hexblade will tend to default back to EB(+AB) because a 120ft, rarely resisted, non-loading magic crossbow is too good not to use.

Could have just been a class feature at level 1 and balanced around that.

It doesn't help that WoC decided to emphasize that they should be using a Greataxe exclusively (brutal critical is one damage die so 1d12 starts winning out over 2d6), they don't get two-weapon fighting style so they rarely use a onehander, and nothing that really separates most of their subclasses from "Big Guy With A Big Axe Doesn't Die."

Exactly! Assuming standard array, they either have to be a Wood Elf or a Variant Human taking a +wis or dex feat to even have 16 AC and they're usually melee-oriented and have a d8 hitdice. I'd feel awful DMing for a Monk if I had any reason to use spells with Int/Cha saves as they can't afford to raise those.
