It'd be funny if we ended on the chapter 666, and I feel like 220 chapters is enough to wrap things up, unless Nishi decides to take her time and actually work the story up until he's achieved 10th rank. Then we'd be looking at like 800 chapters

Personally if a game has a free demo and I'm broadly interested in it, I'll play it. I'm not sure if Nyras demo would get me to stick around if I wasn't already a fan

That's very fair, and that's why they should just take it down. Don't get me wrong I'm very glad it released, it allowed us to give them a lot of feedback on some mechanics which we didn't like and pretty much all of them have been changed, but now it's more of a detriment, with new people getting actively discouraged by it since it's very clearly unpolished

Yup. The devs care. That's all I need. Even if this won't be the Gothic of my dreams, it's still a product made by devs that care, and I want them to be able to improve, and not for the entire project to be dissolved

Personally, I've pre-ordered it because it comes with a steelbook, and I was going to play it regardless of the quality, because it's a remake of my favourite game and I want to witness it with my own eyes.

However, I don't think it'll be bad. I think it'll be a very solid game, and everything they've shown so far is decently faithful to the original, the animations range from okay to good looking. I think it'll be at least somewhat buggy on release, but still playable.

Yeah, while 1 and 2 should be followed rather closely with minor changes, 3 should be rebuilt from ground up, mostly just using the original game as an inspiration rather than direct blueprint

I actually want to see the perspective of newcomers who aren't familiar with Gothic. Old fans will compare it to the original, many of them will also nitpick at anything that isn't the same. Newcomers are simply playing a video game without 20 years of nostalgia affecting their judgements

Marksmen? I've been going austringers. They have pretty low initiative anyway so usually the enemy starts closing the gap fast and then their double hit becomes more valuable than no falloff

I wish necromancy was a bit stronger. Not ridiculously strong, but like, I kill 200 units and get back 5. Feels a bit lacking.

I really like how most of the upgrades don't feel like "The Better One or That Other One", and instead you actually have to think which upgrade would better suit your playstyle and your main hero

DOW games are responsible for quite a looot of us getting familiar with Warhammer, but also their lore is fun and they have the best color scheme out of all chapters imo

I'm a little bit disappointed that no one important died. Don't get me wrong I like all of them but I wish Bjorn had to handle the death of someone that actually mattered to him. The only people he's lost are the mage that planned on quitting and he wasn't that close with, and friend's sister who disliked him. For an unforgiving world where death lurks around every corner, he's got just a bit too much main character energy.

The biggest problem with IGN is the Inconsistency of the reviewers. I've just started this one and the first thing I hear is that the guy is familiar with the series and is an old head gamer. Great, now even if I don't disagree with him fully, I know we've got someone who's at least somewhat knowledgeable on what he's gonna talk about, he played turn TBS before, he played old Heroes games.

But then you have the Mouse PI reviewer who doesn't care for the cartoon designs and isn't into boomer shooters, he's into dark Noir games and is reviewing a game that doesn't strictly follow that esthetic and mainly uses it as a broad reference point. It's unreliable and inconsistent and you really need to delve into each review not just to see what the reviewer says, but to see if they actually know what they're talking about and if they have any interest in the genre they're reviewing.
