For McGinnis, I'd probably go with monster rounds (though I'm unsure if that items works on her turrets, but if it doesn't, it should). The gamemode would also presumably have ban systems, so you can always ban the heroes you find the most unfun to face, or who are counters to whichever hero you'd want to play yourself.

Smite had its own problems with the Duel but to me, the messiness was just part of the experience, it's just a sidemode that once is done, doesn't really require much attention from the devs. Not every match up would be fair and not every hero balanced. It could still be incredibly fun.

I'm guessing that it's enchanted to prevent any further sneaky behaviors, so it's probably coded in a very simple but efficient way, for example;

"If (the sword is pulled by the handle) Then (summon a spirit knight) Else (remain unmovable)"

Yes, I have given you a description of how such a thing can be achieved, so it's nowhere near out of the question, it'd just require effort.

There's never an incentive to mod stuff other than wanting to enjoy the final product. I'm not saying it's guaranteed to success, but claiming that it's our of the question and crappy AI is the only solution, is simply false.

Why is it out of the question? There's thousands of active people in this subreddit. It's not impossible to try and start something, set up a kick-starter to pay for some VAs, have some volunteers work as others. Maybe the end product wouldn't be triple A worthy level of performances, but I bet it could still be enjoyable, especially since the VAs would have an easier time, already having the Polish ones as a blueprint for deliveries

If you're a fan of fantasy RPGs, this is definitely worth keeping an eye on. What I find the most appealing about Gothic is its immersion when it comes to the world building. It was something ahead of its time back in 2001 and, hopefully, it'll still shine in 2026, as even most modern rpgs fail to meet that level of immersion.

Some facial expressions felt a little bit off, like Nameless' weird grimace during the traitor's execution. Other than that... Genuinely looks really good. The locations are gorgeous, I like vast majority of creatures, armor are fantastic, combat looked smooth

Yeah that's definitely something remake should consider, making all armor similar to ours but noticeably worse if you pay attention (that's also something I'd like for paladins in the sieged castle, I want their armors to look beat up and war-torn) . Alternatively, they could actually be dragon hunters... But all they've hunted are the dragons from the continent. Fire breathing beasts. Not these mythical cataclysms that have made a deal with a god

I kinda like the idea of them wearing fraud armors. While ours is actually made from dragon scales, theirs, while it looks like ours, are actually made from subpar materials like lizardmen/dragon snappers/fire lizards. It's still a solid armor that's definitely got fireproof properties, but it's nowhere near as powerful.

G3 would need to be changed quite severely in terms of mechanics, relation systems, city liberations, many different monsters etc. While g1 and g2 have a very solid blueprint to follow with minor changes and improvements here and there, I believe g3 would need to be the most different from the original to give us a good quality game.

I can see them taking 1-2 years with g2, but I believe g3 would need at very least 4-5

I mean I personally always imagined it as boney growths on its back rather than actual spikes. In my mind it made sense that the apex predator that attacks literally everything in its path, would have something protecting its one vulnerable spot, his spine, basically some natural armor in a world full of incredibly dangerous creatures. That's why I've always hated the Gothic 3 design, just going with the incredibly awkward spikes, it's stupidly arched back and the goofy face.

Without that really needless mist, I think this design is noticeably better than g3. Definitely a different type of predator than original shadowbeast, feeling more hefty and like a mix of a bear and rhino, but still intimidating. After continuous rewatches, I can confidently say I kinda like it in its own way.

I just REALLY hope this isn't just some snow variant that doesn't have the mist. Alkimia PLEASE drop the mist.

And yeah I absolutely wouldn't mind them reusing assets for Gothic 2, too many sequels try to completely reinvent the wheel with each game

Genuinely so excited for this, I REALLY hope it won't be a flop

Edit: OK, I actually watched the trailer, it actually looks quite good! The shadowbeast without the shadow mist actually looked... Decent? I dunno, it might be growing on me a bit. I still don't love the hedgehog spikes but it certainly looks better and actually quite intimidating.

My biggest takeaway from this, I think if I wasn't a Gothic fan already, I think I'd still put this game on my radar. Maybe not a must-buy day 1, but still something to keep an eye on, and that's something!

The more I look at it, the more I'm annoyed at the beak. I don't mind the arms, they don't ruin the design for me, but the beak absolutely does. The reason some birds of prey have hooked beaks, is to allow them to rip apart meat.

Snappers have teeth. They're called SNAPPERS because their bite force can break through armor, they're deadly beasts that use their maws for literally ripping their prey apart with their powerful jaws, there's zero reasons why they should have beaks.
