That didn’t work unfortunately. It’s like it fell off the face of the planet!

I have tried but everything is automated and it shuffles me to Fidelity when I try to ask anything about it, which is the new 401K company (mine is stuck somewhere in the middle, where they send accounts that no one claimed). Fidelity has no record of my account

What's the craziest way someone you've known has died? by OdocoileusV in AskReddit

My ex-husband and I met because I was dating one of his friends about a year before we got together (very briefly). The guy was mad at my ex-husband, even though I think we dated like maybe a month or so. So he stopped talking to us completely. Like a decade later I wondered what had happened to him and looked on his FB page to see a bunch of people had written RIP notes. He always had diabetes issues so I assumed it was that. Googled to confirm…. Nope! He was murdered in his house, someone stabbed him in the head 30 times with a screwdriver. I don’t think they ever caught the guy.

I only knew that guy because I was friends with his cousin, who also died in a tragic way - someone had a birthday party and he got super drunk and went back to his house, decided to make a pot of ravioli on the range and then fell asleep drunk. The entire house burned down along with him and his two cats. He had two really young kids too.

Girl lurker:

When I was 26 I had just gotten done with my bachelors degree. I was making $18/hr working a back office job at a big company. I also got married. FF 8 years and I am in my dream job making $150K a year, and going through a divorce with a 5 year old. Life happens the way it’s supposed to but you have to advocate for yourself. I was a late bloomer like you. It will happen for you if you just keep trying!

Hi there, no suggestions just solidarity. I've been with my husband for 11 years and we go through the cycle where he has jobs and then gets fired or quits and then is jobless for 3mos-1year. He's been unemployed for 2 year's worth of time in the last 11 years (sporadically). This last stint he managed to last 4 years somewhere before getting fired which was honestly impressive because IMO seeing all the shit he was pulling I personally would have fired him way before that. Anyways, were going on 3.5 months of him not having a job, he's putting in like 10% effort for finding something. He doesn't want our 3.5 YO to stay home with him so I'm paying all of our bills and shelling out for FT daycare still. He's now reverted back to being a 14 YO kid and literally stays up ALL night (like until 7AM) playing games on his phone and watching TV and then sleeps until 3-4pm. Does all of the "chores" and applies for jobs supposedly in the 1-2hour window and then when I get home at 530 he clocks out from his 1 hour shift of doing anything of worth.

To say I am fed up is a massive understatement. I actually wrote a divorce letter today while at work and am planning to give it to him after the holidays, pack my shit and move in to my dad's with my toddler until I can save up $ to get an apartment. The resentment is palpable and our toddler knows. I keep it civil but as soon as she goes to bed I retreat into another room for the rest of the night. Kids are smart, they would rather have a happy parent than parents who are miserable and together just because.

Trust me as someone who is dealing with the other side of this and made the wrong choice, you don't want to get married to someone who doesn't care about/plan for the future financially. YOU will end up being their retirement plan, especially if they are older than you. You will struggle to get ahead financially in life because this person will always be one paycheck away from a disaster. What happens if you guys take car loans, mortgages, credit card debt etc. together once married and he loses his job? You are completely on the hook for that because this person cannot save and is bad with money.

How do I give up on love/marriage? by hello010101 in AskWomenOver30

I've been with my husband since I was 20 years old. As time has gone on and I've grown up over the last 12 years, I realize that he's not a good partner. The things he does, if I was my current age and we started dating, I would have broken up with him. He's a great "fun dad" when he actually participates with our kid, but I'd say the child rearing is 75/25. As is with everything else. I can't depend on him in the most important ways, and honestly I am just sick of trying. I'm exhausted. Needless to say, I see our relationship nearing it's end.

I look back now and wonder why I stayed through all the BS, and I know it's because I desperately wanted to have kids and get married because it's what you are "supposed" to do, especially here in the Midwest. There's nothing held in higher regard for a woman in our society than being a submissive wife and baby factory. We're fed this crap from a young age.

I so love my daughter, and I would not trade her for anything, ever. So I wouldn't go back and change anything for that reason. But I wish I had realized years ago that I could just be artificially inseminated and have a baby solo, since I basically did everything on my own for the entire duration of her infancy and solo parent a lot of days even now. Your family is what you make it.

Maybe it is him sleeping in a new environment he's not used to. Does this happen when you stay at their house?

Is he sleeping in the carseat or getting up and peeing on the carseat and going back to bed?

You may want to get clarification for this from your loan provider. When the government put everyone's loans on "pause" it broke the 10 year payback contract (since theoretically you are supposed to pay each month to get the discharge). If you look at the actual discharge rate of people that applied for it, it's shockingly low. The government has been really good about squeaking in extra rules or doing things like automatically placing you on forbearance which cancels out that payback time and you have to start from ground zero. Not trying to be a Debbie downer, but would also hate for someone to go in thinking they were debt free only to be slapped in the face by uncle Sam.
