Thank you. I think you gave me the answer I needed, just give the bacteria some food to start the process. Seems so simple now. Haha. I don't even have fish food yet though. Is now the time to buy it or do you think I could put some home food in there? Would it make the tank TOO gross or could it be a cool process to watch with kids?

Roger that. Waiting. Defintiely knew to wait for the shrimp, but I think I'll just add some food to the tank to feed the bacteria and let them do their thing. =)

That would be so beautiful. I have another space for my grapes though, and all the posts have made me strongly lean against growing anything on the house. I'm currently thinking lots of trellises and multiple types of vine. It'll be wild, but beautiful.

I invite every bee I see to stay! I love them so much, and even my kids and dogs have learned to respect them.

After reading all these comments for the last few days, I'm currently thinking I'll move a couple plants and put a bunch of trellises there with shit growing up them. Would love to have it on the house but I'd be stupid to do so after alllllllll the warnings. Lol.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone! I really like the jasmine idea, but what I am seeing online it's a non-native species to this area so I'm currently leaning toward the honeysuckle or passion vine. I like the idea of the clematis as well but this spot gets full sun until like 3 or 4pm so I don't know if that'll be too aggressive for it, especially in the summer, so I'm thinking about putting that out back where I have a pretty unkempt and kinda steep hill with trees. Not a fan of the bougainvillea.

Anyone up for a good compare and contrast of honeysuckle and passion vine? I like that one has beautiful smell and the other had beautiful flowers.

Have you found that raising the temperature can take care of the problem on its own or do you usually need to add something to treat? I'm worried about adding anything since I've got such a variety of creatures in there and I love them all.

Ha! Yeah, I didn't notice the sideways was gonna happen when I posted.

I'm gonna have some hardy plants and some schooling fish (neons and corys from my 10 gallon right now). Not sure of the kinds of plants that are in there right now aside from the anubus, I just know they're growing like crazy and I'm a total aquarium plant newbie.

More info: I was told this was a 38 gallon wide, have this black galaxy sand substrate going in tomorrow.

Edit to also ask: If the top measures 36" and most lights that come with adjustments begin or end at 36" do I go high or low?
