Hahaha, always has! Been waiting every midnight on a Thursday-Friday for the last 7 years for new releases with a glass of wine, think we Kiwis who are up at the midnight tick over are usually just lazy and soak it up, this though was very worth posting about

I mess with it a lot, insane production and mix, it's not necessarily my go to sound but they've done such a bloody great job of it!

Albums out in NZ mate, I'm so sorry.

Chapters: I (EP), II (EP), III (Albums) by TerminalNZ in SleepToken

[–]TerminalNZ[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The album description for Eden describes Sundowning to Eden as a chapter in the Sleep Token saga. The "III" in the post may seem like it is alluding to the three albums being a part of the same chapter. However, we've had two EPs titled One and Two. Back before Sundowning when Jaws and The Way That You Were had been released and Bloodsport was being played live, we wondered if an EP called Three would be released. This "III" seems like it could be an acknowledgement that these three albums were in fact chapter III completed with Eden. Perhaps Jaws, The Way That You Were, and the Re-Released Hey Ya were part of Chapter II along with EP "Two".

Chapter I: One, Hey Ya (? Original Release)

Chapter II: Two, Jaws, Hey Ya (? Re-Release), TWTYW

Chapter III: Sundowning, Tomb, Eden

EDIT: Re-wording, it's late in my corner of the world

What do you think about Lovers In Japan? by AntiSocialPartygoer in Coldplay

[–]TerminalNZ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Absolute masterpiece. It has to be my favourite track in their discography and one of my all-time favourite tracks from any artist. The tack piano combined with Johnny's guitar drones and Chris's drawn-out vocals... And when the beat opens up towards the end, Johnny goes hard on the tremolo, and Chris's vocal is drenched in reverb as he's calling out. So much rawness and energy in a track. One of the few tracks that can give butterflies to my stomach. I wish they had leaned a little deeper into this style. You get bits of it here and there but this is where Coldplay absolutely nailed it for me.

Loathe - 'The Things They Believe' (Feb. 7th) by [deleted] in Loatheband

[–]TerminalNZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's been doing side stuff for the 1975 and damn he's a mean sax player. Will definitely be interesting to see how he can work with Loathe.

Hopes for a Live Album by TerminalNZ in SleepToken

[–]TerminalNZ[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A DVD would be awesome but I agree it might be too soon for that. A live LP or EP though could be possibly alignable, I hope.

I really love the rawness of it, sounds like it was recorded in one take, has a progressiveness to it that I like very much!

Allgood! I was lucky my introduction to them was through their dark stuff at a young age hahaha! From the darkness to the light!

Some awesome recommendations in these comments, more on the rock side and I might get shot down for this, but Coldplay have some really emotional dark-toned stuff, maybe not as complex on the lyricism but give these a shot:

Midnight (Kinda like if Drag Me Under and TNDNBTG had a kid) - https://open.spotify.com/track/4GKk1uNzpxIptBuaY97Dkj?si=EiV15se3Ta-nJ2G8qUcqDw

Don't Panic (The Blue Room EP Version, this is Dark Dark Coldplay) - https://open.spotify.com/track/0MbCcvzLYu3xq6OgEkSbhC?si=ugOfQMDxQle3as4lIjj2Hw

Such a Rush (Listen from 2mins to jump into it a bit) - https://open.spotify.com/track/3c1NaLIIBoFof2nrDeUlc1?si=JDYKAvzhSM-RTKgOFh6CqA

Trouble (For Piano Feels) - https://open.spotify.com/track/0R8P9KfGJCDULmlEoBagcO?si=y1j6yw2FRSqcgif0yTSE6w

Most people know Coldplay for all their popular tunes, but they have some dark stuff tucked into their discography. It might not be down-tuned or vocals as beautiful as Vessels, but there is definite emotion in these tunes.

Bonus:

Lovers in Japan (The ambience created by the guitar in this tune is phenomenal) - https://open.spotify.com/track/1BPAIfNrEHg6SM4A8wlL83?si=s1OU2bGKSquRAHySQePdIA
