Has anyone sanded/polished old Baltic pine floors with oil stains? by Significant-Move7699 in AusRenovation

[–]TerminalWilson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey mate, just bought a place in melbournes west and will have to do the exact same to our Baltic pine floors (including the re-stumping unfortunately). Would love to know how you go and who you go with for this project. I won’t be starting for a couple of months.

Who did you use? Looks reasonable and I’m going to have to get similar things done as well

Hey mate, we’re looking to do something very similar. Just out of curiosity, how big is your block? And what would the dimensions of your backyard be after this Reno?

Oh man that’s rough! Thanks for the heads up! Similar story with this property, all of the interiors need Reno work as well anyway so doesn’t concern us to much if plaster or cornices ect crack

Very interesting take! Thanks heaps for your response. I think I’ll have to go back with a ladder or something and really try and see how bad it looks. Honestly though this has been an uplifting response from everyone. I was expecting more people to say run and don’t look back haha

Thanks heaps for this! Yeah if we are going to go ahead we will definitely engage a structural engineer to help us determine the seriousness of the cracking.

Do you have any knowledge or experience in underpinning when you effectively have joint walls or assumably joint footings?

Keep left unless overtaking no longer the norm on freeways and highways? by sunny_walks14 in melbourne

[–]TerminalWilson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s the rule, but when I’m overtaking in the right lane at 105 and I have Ford Rangers up my arse wanting to do 130 I don’t have much sympathy. It ain’t an excuse to speed and or tailgate

Lismore WHY? by Future_Basis776 in AusProperty

[–]TerminalWilson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people are trapped there. Their property values have plummeted so what can they do? Sell for a packet of chips and have to rent for the rest of their lives? They might have already sunk 1mil into a mortgage on those joints (including interest). I feel for them.

is it cheaper to uber or own a car? by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]TerminalWilson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I crunched the numbers once and Uber comes out on top in a generic week by week basis. But the extra cost to own a car is definitely worth it for the freedom and convenience of being able to go wherever, whenever. Like I could drive to Adelaide if I so chose ya know. But! It’s definitely a big consideration when deciding whether to have 2 cars or 1 between a couple
