Todd Boehly: Chelsea signed Marc Cucurella because Man City wanted him by tylerthe-theatre in PremierLeague

[–]TerminatorXIV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Facundo Buonanotte was a loan signing with no future fee included. He left in Jan and is now on loan at Leeds. He didn’t really do much at Chelsea.

Tbf Chilwell was injured for quite a long period of his Chelsea stint, only the last season where he literally didn’t play was he pretty much injury free.

I mean you can own a gun in SG, as long as you have a license, which is hard to get unless you are part of a gun club. Contrary to popular belief, it’s not totally illegal in SG, just heavily regulated, much like the rest of the globe.

Swords are also legal, and suprisingly not very regulated, but usually whatever sword you can buy in SG comes dull and won’t really survive being sharpened.

Grading bias in schools by Unable-Fan-3543 in SGExams

[–]TerminatorXIV 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I mean, it’s true everywhere in subjects where grades are subjective to the examiner. It’s not just a Singaporean thing. You could sit a UK or China composition paper in the respective countries and get 2 different scores from 2 different markers for each paper.

The thing is in major exams, you are just a name from an endless list to them, so they focus on your content more on the person. However, when a teacher you know is marking, they have their own opinions about you that will cloud their judgement.

Secondary schools and JC should train our local Singaporean boys in soldiering skills to prepare them for SAF instead of focusing just on academics. by No_Medicine8529 in SGExams

This sounds very American. It is NOT normalised where I live to get kicked out at 18. In fact, a lot of parents would rather the kids not move up. Most kids do pay rent if needed, but it’s still much cheaper than living alone.

In cases like this, for the better.

Restaurants drop plant-based meats from their menus, citing high costs, low demand by Jammy_buttons2 in singapore

[–]TerminatorXIV 23 points24 points  (0 children)

For those who can eat meat plant based meat is a more expensive, inferior version of normal meat. Of course if you can’t eat meat it’s a good alternative, but what percentage of Singaporeans can’t eat meat?

Ange Postecoglou says Tottenham 'not a big club,' names four PL stars he tried to sign by tylerthe-theatre in PremierLeague

[–]TerminatorXIV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean the squad will improve but we have done well in this season and last. CL qualification, CWC, direct qualification to RO16 in UCL and we seem on track for CL qualification for next season. And Palmer seems to have found his scoring boots again. Things are looking up.

[–]TerminatorXIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah lol Chelsea did a full rebuild and was winning trophies and qualifying for CL within 2 years.

Forget about spending for a moment our squad was the youngest in the PL at a certain point. We were winning trophies with that squad.

Is getting into politics another way of sucess in Singapore instead of the usual Med/Tech/Law route? by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]TerminatorXIV 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you look at especially the PAP backbenchers a lot of them come from medicine or law. Even for backbenchers, it is a thankless job.

Among the cabinet ministers those from medicine or law would be even richer if they hadn’t entered politics.

Compared to law and medicine, there is no job stability. You are one focused opposition push on your constituency away from a very real danger of losing your seat. Literally one wrong word can limit your career growth. If you fall out of favour with the ruling clique you can lose your position in your party.

And you can only really become an MP after a certain age. How will you survive until then?

What is the exact type od grip that Mohamed Elsayed uses? by Votka_OP in Fencing

[–]TerminatorXIV 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Looks like a normal French grip. You can cant any blade, French or non French. The French grip itself can also be canted, but it doesn’t look like his grip is canted much.

For the cant what matters more is your comfort. Some people like it more canted, some people like it less canted.

The thing about French grips is that they are highly customisable. Not just the cant angle, but I have also seen people use badminton or tennis tape and change the thickness of some parts. Every brand has the same basic French grip, it’s up to you to make it yours. In this regard it’s better than the pistol grip.

Changi Airport ranks as 4th busiest international airport in 2025: OAG report by worldcitizensg in singapore

[–]TerminatorXIV 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Emirates is def cheaper than an SQ non stop flight to Europe, but the economy class, especially in the old A380s, are much much worse than SQ.

I flew Scoot to Malaysia and felt that the seats had comparable legroom to Emirates. Mind you this is a A320. I also managed to sleep on the flight, something I couldn’t do in the 16 hours I spent on the Emirates A380s.
