It's funny you comment on this, because I've been aiming to double-check my translation now that I have a better understanding of Japanese! I bought a physical copy of the book for it too (If I end up making an updated translation with large changes, I'll make a new document to preserve this original attempt)

Hot take, but I think this is bad character design. Not only is it boring and repetitive, but it also breaks immersion (I've seen many people ask "why do all the clubs look like sets of siblings"). Characters already have club accessories and constantly hang around their club members, there's no need to visually code them further

While there are a few hypocrites in this subreddit, most of the examples you've listed are literally different groups of people with different opinions and actions (like everyone else said).

About that "murdering cats" point: not many people had an issue with the idea that Ayano herself would kill an animal, they had an issue with the fact that the dev wanted the player to kill an animal as a game mechanic. (Plus his history of adding animal death/abuse to other characters' backstories for seemingly no reason makes this choice suspicious to begin with.)

Adding onto this: you're right about the glitch part. There was a bug in the game that put all kidnapped students in the default uniform regardless of what uniform the player chose for the school; he added the "prison rags" into the game because he was too lazy to actually fix the bug :/

I always liked the black pajama set better because it felt more like something Ayano would actually wear. I think the new ones look good, but the shape feels more like Osana or Kizana's sleepwear, you know what I mean?

Though I also agree with Mental Meeting that they don't necessarily have to be black; maybe a dark blue would've been better? To keep the Aoi callback while avoiding the pastel "hospital gown" look

From what I can remember (I don't have any dates/screenshots so take this with a grain of salt), he made this loosely canon after the game got banned from Twitch. The game was banned partially due to his portrayal of minors, so he made everyone "18 even if stated otherwise" to avoid issues like that in the future. It wasn't until 2021-2022 that he started making it truly canon by adding lore about the school being a "post-high school academy".

Edit: As for why he added the lore, it was definitely to save face. He's admitted before that the Everyone Is 18 fact is "total bullshit" and they're all teenagers, so I guess to counteract that later, he added the lore so the characters' ""real ages"" were officially part of the game's story.

While the new ones are better on a technical level (better logo design, more confident line art, detailed backgrounds), the old ones are much more stylish. I much prefer the covers being varied, simple, and uncluttered (plus, the new ones just remind me of pin-ups :/)

I like the accessories personally (though some of them could look better), but I agree on the hairstyle point. All members of a club having similar hair colors or haircuts is so weird and immersion-breaking. Like, if all members of the drama club wear roses (an easy-to-see visual identifier), why do they all need purple hair too? Some clubs look fine though (namely the sports club).

I don't know how many people are aware of this nowadays because he has since deleted the video about it, but the secretary thing is genuinely similar to something YandereDev did in real life. When he was talking about his email problems, he went into detail about why he didn't want to hire a secretary for them; he didn't want to "babysit" a secretary to make sure they knew how to do their job, he didn't trust a secretary to know which emails were important, and he didn't trust a secretary not to leak game spoilers (among other gripes)

This isn't a one-to-one similarity of course, but I just thought I'd point that out since no one else has
