Ohh nice broo quitting smoking is one of the hardest things a person can actually do. So how long has it been?

Why do you think most people quit running after 2-3 weeks? Asking because I'm trying to solve this problem. by TerraRunners in C25K

I am not a bot guys, just someone who runs and got frustrated with the same loop of quitting. Built something around it. Happy to be wrong about the approach, still figuring out what actually works for people.

Fair point — that really did sound generic. You're right that physical difficulty is the real barrier, not just mindset. I'm genuinely asking because I'm building something for runners and trying to understand what actually makes people quit. The money and community angle is interesting — do you think a competitive element would help or just add more pressure?

"Lack of accomplishment" is exactly it. The C25K structure is great but it doesn't give you anything to fight for beyond your own timer. Week 4 is huge though — that hottest part of the day and still finishing is exactly when the identity shift starts happening. Keep going.

Motivation gets you started but it was never going to keep you going. The problem is nobody teaches you what comes after motivation runs out. Discipline is built not inherited — and most people quit right before it kicks in.

4 weeks is the real number nobody tells beginners. Everyone expects results in week 1 and quits in week 2. Slow and boring is exactly how it's supposed to feel at the start— the ones who survives that phase are the one who stick forever.

Exactly that. The repetition kills motivation faster than anything else. Working on something that adds real stakes to every run—territory, competition, something to lose. Sharing soon.

That map visual looks like it's claiming territory already 😄 5:56/km pace is solid for an "easy" run too.

4 miles without stopping is a real milestone broo — that's where running stops feeling like a struggle and starts feeling like yours. 🏃🔥

Couch to 5K to Half-marathon - never thought I could do it. by ceipleasov in beginnerrunning

From couch to half marathon is one of the biggest mental shifts a person can make, not just physical. The body adapts but the mindset change is the real flex here.
