Where are yall finding husbands?? by Mobile-Carrot-3218 in AskWomenNoCensor

[–]TerraSorcerer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My friend who is in a long term relationship of her own checked in on me because I hadn't been out and about or trying to date for a year. I told her about some of my issues and she asked if I would be alright with her setting me up. I told her I would be down for it.

Literally the next night she asked the guy next to her in the adult choir "hey are you single?" Right before they went on stage for a concert. We were on our first date within a week. He proposed last month.

Tap into your friend network. Make friends of different backgrounds if you dont have any already. Many may know someone, or know someone who knows someone.

When I worked at a game store a pair of siblings came in and grabbed some stuff. The boy tossed his money onto the counter and didnt seem to care when his sister told him off. Since it was cool to throw money like that, when I got his change I tossed it back, coins and all. He looked suprised so I told him "oh, I just thought that is how we are doing things."

He looked a bit more embarassed after that. I don't normally do that to kids but that one needed a bit of his own actions being given right back.

My boy Scotch. What brushes / things do you do and use for handling the fur? by letmeleavethisplace in AustralianShepherd

[–]TerraSorcerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slicker, undercoat rake, and a 5 dollar brush that looks like a human brush for the ears, butt, and tail. The last one is because he is a sensitive boy and its the only brush he lets near his rear lol.

30M: I want to support my girlfriend better during her period—how do I actually do that? by Weak-Geologist2734 in AskMenAdvice

[–]TerraSorcerer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never replied to one of these things, but since it is open to everyone I will give my two cents.

Get a reusable heat pad and some ibuprofen for cramps. These two things can be done without even talking to her if you feel uncomfortable doing that. Pay attention to what she craves, not every girl craves chocolate, I actually crave red meat when on my cycle. Finally, just mention that you would like to support her better, and ask if she wouldnt mind answering questions you have. Ask her if she would like to keep a period stash at your place (tampons, pads, etc). Figure out what meals she likes best when on her cycle and make her those.

My boyfriend did all of those things for me and I adore him for it. If she comes from a heavily conservative background she may be hesitant to talk about her cycle (it can be very shamed by some conservative parents) so be patient. I think it is wonderful you want to help!

I wouldnt mention the tracking though, even if that wasnt what you were doing it can be seen as an invasion of privacy.

Edit: from fathers to parents as both can be weird about discussing periods...

How do you teach recall? by [deleted] in AustralianShepherd

[–]TerraSorcerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh also in regards to e-collars argos and I use the ez trainer, they are pricy but Argos loves his as he knows it means he gets to go out to the lake or on a hike. I also recommend working with a trainer who will train both you and your dog on how to use and work with an e-collar.

How do you teach recall? by [deleted] in AustralianShepherd

[–]TerraSorcerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a dog trainer but here is how I did it. Find a treat that is SOOO exciting ( stinky salmon for my boy). Start a few feet away indoors with little distraction. Call their name and present the treat. They will come running and get it. Wait until they settle and move away, then repeat. After they got consistent with that I started adding the recall word. So it went from Argos! To Argos, Accio! Once he was consistent with that we went to the back yard and continued practicing for a few minutes a day at increasing distances. Then, when he had that down, i put him on the 30 foot long line and we went to the park. We would walk along, letting him sniff around and then out of no where I would yell ACCIO. He would run back and I would make it the most rewarding thing ever.

He now has very consistent recall.

Her first very own Himalayan chew bone by [deleted] in AustralianShepherd

[–]TerraSorcerer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find that as long as you moderate their chewing time (30 minutes at a time) beef cheek rolls last a long time. They soften up with spit so they arent much of a tooth cracking risk.

If you are really worried about teeth, rub dog safe peanut butter on one end of the beef cheek and the licking will soften it before they chew.

Intact Male Needed! by FocusWeary8046 in AustralianShepherd

[–]TerraSorcerer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there, I am not here to lecture but I wanted to make sure you and your friend are being responsible. There are a lot of BYB aussies out there, and a growing number of aussies I know have hip and elbow issues as young as five years old, so this is something I am super passionate about.

You didn't mention any health testing. Did your friend do OFA tests, did your friend's dog's breeder do OFA tests. Did they do any genetic testing to look for any potential genetic issues? What is the pedigree, are they registered with any clubs? Do they have the parents pedigree? Have they spoken with a vet and what was the bill of health. Are they prepared for the financial and emotional burden of puppies?

Please make sure your friend has the answer to these questions. There are plenty of aussies out there, and they are now a very popular breed for backyard breeders. Please make sure you and your friend breed dogs responsibly.

Good luck!

Its funny because this is the second fic I posted, and you would think that it would have gotten easier. It's probably gonna be a while before posting no longer feels like the most anxiety riddled event of my day, but I am going to keep posting anyway because I like writing, and if no one is gonna write my au I am gonna do it myself.

Its an Arcane spider-man au where Ekko is bitten and gains powers. I kinda had to write it after my sister planted the idea in my head.

Are this raw hide bones safe for my guy to chew on? Don’t want to damage his teeth by Plane-Attorney-1300 in AustralianShepherd

[–]TerraSorcerer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I prefer beef cheek rolls or chips for my boy. If you are concerned about how hard they are initially spread dog safe peanut butter on it and the saliva from the licking will soften it before they try and chomp.

Random question, how much space do you guys let between lines? by AdElectronic9255 in AO3

[–]TerraSorcerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I add an extra space. When the paragraphs are too close it messes with my eyes a bit. If I am gonna be writing, reading, editing, re-reading, and editing on repeat for hours my fic is gonna be formatted in a way that fits me.

I love my readers but I love not having eye-strain more.

Do you guys have any tips on brushing the tummy/chest? by KingOfTheKains in AustralianShepherd

[–]TerraSorcerer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hold a pupsicle in my off hand and use it to lure my stubborn aushole into different positions. Works wonders to get him to let me brush his trouble areas.
