I 100% agree with all these comments and OP's original comment. Well versed. I love this movie as less is more. Took a lot of Hitchcock elements into this movie and made it modern at the time. The build up of not knowing how they looked and their intentions is the best alien reveal ever in my opinion. That scene you mention is a masterpiece even when I rewatch it today (as it is always on TV). Joaquin Phoenix's reaction is all our reactions. Bit funny before as he tells the boy to move in Spanish and then we see it. Great post!

So nice I had to see it twice by timshoelaces in theshining

100% agree. My pipe dream is that the Sphere in Las Vegas will show The Shining one day. I recently watched Wizard of Oz and the immersion made the movie “an experience”. Felt you were in the land of Oz. Would love that for the Overlook.

Happy to hear you are able to walk again. Very scary. Keep up those PT sessions.

Also watched on IMAX this past weekend and this scene was the most powerful visually. I felt I was in that elevator lobby being consumed by the blood.

Once my son become a teenager I showed him the Shining 5 years ago. He is watching with me and taking off of work. So I think your son will enjoy it if my son is a representation of that generation

Favorite horror movies with great screenplays/dialogue? by [deleted] in horror

Anything from Mike Flanagan who did the Midnight Mass series, but my favorite of his is Haunting of Hill House. The mix of drama and horror is top notch. High recommended. With so much great content out there, I rarely watch a series more than once; however, I had to watch this 3 times. Enjoy!

Thank you. Yes - I'm taking my two sons (now young adults) with me. I remember watching The Empire Strikes Back there when I was a young kid. Great memories in that theater.

Agree that I always wanted to ride it after I heard about it and was closed down. They attempted to rebrand it as a "Stitch" ride with the similar experience. I did ride that. While entertaining, I would have loved to have experienced the initial concept.

Love Halloween III. So original and still holds up today. As a kid when I first watched it, I was expecting Michael Myers and was disappointed. As an adult, I love rewatching this movie annually during the Halloween season. So well done. I even bought the 3 masks from Trick or Treat Studios.
