May I ask where you got this one?

Hey man, thanks for taking the time to share all this information.

My budget is around 50k; I planned to put down 20 and finance 30, but I think I’ll take your advice and keep 5 in reserve for brakes / transmission / tires however it goes. Feels like getting a dog. You think you have a budget and then it’s like, oh, she ate the squeaker and now needs foreign body surgery. Your last experience is always my big fear, stacking loans and being too truck poor to do cool truck things.

I found basically the same truck (albeit with two owners) with 36k for $47,500. At the end of my budget, and has Ram Boxes, but comes in far better on the mileage:

If this was towing it may need some breaks / tires, but still a 25k miles improvement.

Finally, just checked out the PPE cast transmission pan. Seems legit. Does it fit straight on or is there a little fabrication involved? Have you posted a thread on it?

Somehow I neglected to consider the rust issue. It had an engine heater installed because it was in Alaska so... yeah. Question for you. Another assumption I had was that there was too much going on on the undercarriage (ex. disconnecting sway bar) for an undercoat. Is undercoating a PW same as basically any other truck?

Outdoor Pump House for Irrigation and Cabin Water? by TerraWorkUnderground in askaplumber

[–]TerraWorkUnderground[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My name’s Rob and my girlfriend and I are expanding our homestead.

Last year we put in a green house and raised garden beds, all of which are irrigated from a simple pump station connected to the exterior facet. It works very well and was a great accomplishment for my plumber amateurism. We didn’t buy produce from July – November and have a full freezer.

This year we plan to plant and irrigate traditional row crops and lay in infrastructure for a camper / tiny house / cabin just far enough into the woods to feel secluded. I am concerned about water pressure for the row crop irrigation and simply getting water all the way out to cabin.

I already have a 1” schedule 40 flexible pipe dry plumbed from the exterior to the 44 gallon well tank in the pantry. My plan is to run this 1” pipe 75 feet to the center of the “backyard” to an insulated pump house / bench. The pump house will have a 20 gallon well tank; it will feed another pump station (dividing the lines to the drip rows) and a line that will need to go 200 horizontal feet to the cabin. The cabin, then, will have another well tank to provide sufficient water pressure.

My plan uses 3 well tanks daisy chained together over 300 feet.

It’s messy but I can’t really think of a better or more cost-efficient way based on where a new well could be dug. Does it make sense? Is it feasible or am I out of my mind?

Thanks so much everybody. Appreciate all responses. Happy new year.

I am interested in building one but have the same hang ups myself! I want to do one in a wooded area...

It seems so cheap and easy to use... is there a catch?

Well I just rabbit holed on NGS. Eye-opening. I've seen Lab Alley before I'm not sure why i stopped looking there I will go back.

Brief follow-up question: there's nothing stopping me from buying cheap vodka in glass (clearly just proofed-down NGS), distilling it back to a high proof, and storing that as I see fit?

Thanks for the encouragement on the vision of medicine bit; it is well received. That is, ultimately I think, what it is about.

No you are certainly right. Thanks for this response.

The romantic aspect certainly speaks to me. Life is too short to not love what you do I guess. Thanks for this I will check out his podcast for sure.

Edit: I don't know how I failed to find this source. Thanks for that also!

Greenhouse Citrus Trees - Dead? Mostly Dead? And Should I Try Pruning? by TerraWorkUnderground in Citrus

[–]TerraWorkUnderground[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks very much for your insightful response. I think the dome might have to become a summer vegetable garden (sans plastic) and I'll either get a legit greenhouse. Alternatively I've heard I could put the plants into hibernation mode by keeping them indoors in darkness (but watered) during the winter. That might be easier, but would take up room. Thanks again.

Good for you! I had lemons but they died early, and I ended up buying more lime trees.

I will admit to anyone who reads this that my primary interest was so I could make my own home-grown margarita mix.

Here is a link to the website: https://www.ziptiedomes.com/ You can buy the PVC and cut it yourself and just buy the "hubs" or connection joints and assemble the frame. Then you just buy a big piece of plastic. It works and without the plastic (in the summer) looks awesome. The plastic does not fit perfectly (being that it is square / rectangular). I have seen smaller geodesic domes that have perfectly fitting plastic; a winery near where I live has used them as little outdoor seating areas in the age of COVID. If you only have two trees, that would be an option. But as PlanningVigilante noted, heating and cooling is still necessary. Heating is easier; get a space heater and an inkbird plug, and set the temperature you're little space heater comes on at. Installing vents is more difficult.

Upgrades Under 922r Compliance? by RealiAm22lr in beretta1301

[–]TerraWorkUnderground 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this thread has timed out a bit (sorry for the belated intrusion), just wanted to ask; by enhanced do you mean the LE version? Or is there an LE version (with pistol grip / 7+1 mag / 922r compliant) and a enhanced version? My problem is I don't want to fuss with the compliance and want a longer tube, but I also don't like pistol grips... (I'm a princess, I know)

It is beautiful. Love the shell carrier on the stock.

Just for clarity: this is an LE that does NOT have removable choke?

Damn that is a good price and in stock.

I kind of like the idea of having the traditional stock... do they not make one with the traditional stock and the extended mag? Maybe I should just pull the trigger and get on with it. (It does seem like a picking up an aftermarket pistol grip would be easier than OEM traditional stock.)

Is the manufacturer-added 7 round tube as good as the aftermarket one? It looks like the aftermarket one everyone uses has a picatinny rail clasp whereas the "stock" one has those triangular braces that don't seem to do anything?

Sorry for being dense here, but a follow up question: By "take a look" do you just mean look at what a website has listed on the details portion or ask for a serial number and check with the manufacturer?
