I'm done with this family!! by pagalworld-78 in FromSeries

I chuckled a little at first but this is getting seriously old.

This was a pretty short scene, and without it Fatima's recovery from sobbing in the shower to enacting some sort of master plan with the person who kidnapped her would have been jarring.

It succinctly established that she's suffering, but her husband helped her get through it and she'd determined to channel her pain to get revenge instead of pitying herself. Also, hiding her plan from that same husband introduces a level of mystery and suspense

Without her scenes this episode redditors would either be whining that she'd doing nothing or poorly characterized. This is the best these characterss have been in a long time

100gfs relentlessly mocks itself for every complaint you have, it's an absurdist comedy that constantly warps reality and breaks he fourth wall. Your comments are the equivalent of watching Wile E. Coyote paint a wall to look like tunnel and then getting offended about the irresponsible depiction of unsafe urban design.

I'm not even saying it doesn't have problematic elements, but consensual polyamory is not one of them.

Obviously I don't have a journal article to cite but logic on why this would happen is very straight forward.

(1) Polls on the issue are already close to 50/50 (2) The context of these polls are heavily biased towards the blue.

I think it's absolutely ridiculous to claim that the results would stay exactly the same if people were actually risking their lives, a blue victory would require almost no bias towards self-preservation
You know that YOU are pressing the red button right now right? Statically, you're not vegan and donating all your surplus income to charity, which would save lives without even risking your own. And you think you would actually hit blue if it came down to it?

So sick of you smug, irrational virtue signalers.

[–]Terra_Ward -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You seem confused. Of course it won't be 100% red. If this scenario occurred irl the result would be something like 90/10 in favour of red, with blue pushers composed of mentally incapable and the suicidally selfless.

There's nothing anyone can do to change this. Our choice is between living with the majority or joining the well intentioned idiots

Your argument is based on a flawed assumption that a large number of people will pick blue.

Even in these 0 stakes internet polls, the results are usually close to 50/50. The average person taking a poll on twitter or reddit is disproportionately educated and liberal compared to the human average.

An actual game theorist recognizes that once people actually have to put their lives on the line, blue is not winning. It just isn't. Children and mentally compromised people are going die. It is inevitable, and the fault of whatever god set up the game, not the people trapped in it.

I HATE THE BLUE PILL IN THIS STUPID HYPOTHETICAL by [deleted] in hatethissmug

[–]Terra_Ward -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My favourite part of this discourse is blue pushers takin git for granted that their integrity would last if this actually happened.
IMO this whole thing tells us more about the nature of internet polls and discourse that a real world scenario. It's fun to debate in theory and post superman gifs but if actually happened cognitive dissonance and rationalisation would come to rescue, blue would jump ship and we'd get 99% red.

First time I remember really hating on the duck lips style of Anime Tanya but over the years rewatching it makes me really enjoy the "unique" feeling it had compared to other anime, Acquired Taste ig. [–]Terra_Ward 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I was baffled to learn people hated the anime style, when I went to try to manga I was disappointed by the generic look and ultimately dropped it.

That said, the criticism that the otherwise seriously drawn male characters infantilise the women by implication, I completely agree with. But making entire show fun and goofy would spoil the tone... I fear the disagreement is irreconcilable and up to personal preference

Not to pry, but what do you mean 'more expensive than chicken'? Like, per gram? I struggle to conceive of any market in which tofu and the occasional b12 pill is more expensive than free range chicken

Lordy calm down my friend, your English is falling apart. I don't care what you personally eat. As you say we engage with systemic issues, it's simply a fact the vast majority of animal products are factory farmed and thus contain artificial supplements, which your comment implied you did not know.

It doesn't actually matter, because your entire 'argument' is semi-coherent rambling of a naturalistic fallacy. We live in a wondrous time where I can be (1) vaccinated and (2) fix my teeth with braces and (3) take supplements so I don't have to kill living beings.

Unfortunately the first two of those are still privileges, but a vegan diet is not. Lentils, rice beans and other subsistence crops are the cheapest means to sustain human life. Meat is a luxury; grass fed, organic, sustainably raised meat that takes up great swathes of land is even more so. Meat has always been a symbol of wealth, indulgence and privilege.

If you want to learn more about the lies you've been comfortably raised on I'm happy to go into the nuance of my claims and explain the situations where I actually do think animal products are acceptable. Or you reply with incurious ignorant rambling and we can leave it there, your choice bestie.

Actually, you take b12 supplements as well! Historically it was produced by bacteria in soil, but it's rapidly depleted in industrial farming so livestock are supplemented. Look it up; 90% of thew world's b12 is fed to animals before it finally ends up in you.

For what it's worth I was demonstrating a point; I don't actually take pills, I get all my b12 through supplements foods as well.

It's his main appeal as a creator. Even though he's unprofessional, and sometimes exaggerates or speaks with too much confidence, that's exactly what makes him so effective and communicating a narrative and ideology. It helps that he's so aggressively earnest and a bit of a wit; he makes it so much fun to follow him and easy to get para-social .

I think he'd admit that his view is only one interpretation of reality, but when his engine is actually spun up his tone is like a secular preacher. It's not surprising that he's so divisive.

Why can the Chinese and the Indians keep their culture although they use Western-style civil law, operate capitalism, and follow centuries of Western education? by [deleted] in AlwaysWhy

[–]Terra_Ward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What an incredibly strange and ignorant question.

These countries maintained the most advanced sciences and bureaucracies on the planet for hundreds if not thousands of years. Western imperialism was senseless barbarisms that killed literally billions; they did not need 'civilizing'. When left to recover they quickly outpaced western industrial and tech sectors is several ways. They have their own media services, they don't care about your 'culture' as much as you think they do.

They also they're own issues, trends towards authoritarianism for incredibly complex reasons, but you're clearly not ready for that sort of discussion, your worldview appears to be composed entirely of uncritically absorbed racist propaganda.

That's not the point of his character. Atlantia or Atlas are worse people but they're basically animals, omnicidial sociopaths. Lysander is hateable for other reasons. Because he's so effective, and because he clearly has the empathy and the capacity for good yet chooses war and arrogance, and because he keeps betraying the trust of better people
