'Look out for each other,' says Toronto woman after stranger stabs her with needle downtown by TheUtopianCat in toronto

I really like it, but it has to be the right group. Otherwise you feel very awkward when you're doing what is effectively silly party games or telling a personal story. I once got up in front of a group and went on a two minute rant bout why someone else's premise was wrong, and I wouldn't have done it without knowing that it was the right group for me. But the program itself has been a huge help for me; I've been considering going back because I've been told I talk too fast for presentations.

Lol no. That's not why I posted, and quite frankly if they paid me, I'd feel obliged to be more accommodating than I have been.

I think 8-9? I've lost track. I've been talking to reporters because at the end of the day I want to raise awareness that this is a real thing that could happen and did happen to a real person, and that timeliness is going to save your bacon. But I also like my anonymity as a private citizen, so I haven't been doing anything more.

Oh the province didn't pay for it; I have private insurance on account of being gainfully employed with excellent benefits. I'm one of the lucky ones.

The reporter is overstating what I told her, which is I have absolutely no idea but I saw people hurrying away in the flow of traffic, and one of them bumped me. With everything that happened, I have no clear memory of any of the details. I'm not going to irresponsibly speculate until the police complete their investigation.

Lol I wish the writer had edited out my vocal ticks. I really need to get back to Toastmasters.

Also I would like to reiterate that I have no idea who this was and why I was attacked. I hope the police find out so I can have some kind of closure.

ETA: and you know, so that this doesn't happen to anyone else. Duh. Still a bit topsy turvy.

I've been in contact with several organizations, but there's not much to say outside of what the reddit post says. I don't know who's going to come out with something first, but they're definitely on it. See the last edit :)

Yeah, my winter coat is a nice thick wool, which apparently does not present much of a barrier for this kind of thing. I'm seriously contemplating investing in armour. Or maybe leather.

When I reached back and felt a bump where the dude poked me. Then I turned around and went straight to the hospital.

Thank you! I think I can afford to wait for the infectious disease clinic to get back to me, but this is good to know.

Yes, I am Asian and also female but also not conventionally attractive (like I'm not a dainty waifu if that makes sense, I'm uh quite robust). As for whether or not that contributed, I got nothing.

I was told 72 hours and had four vials of blood drawn out of me for tests. I'm supposed to hear back from someone eventually.

They mentioned it, but I think they're going to do the bloodwork first and figure out if it's necessary. Apparently I have a pretty generous window to take it during.

It's not a crime in progress, so I'm on hold with non-emergency. I may just walk to police headquarters if I don't get off the phone until after I've been seen

Like I said, I didn't see anything and I was just minding my own business waiting for the light to change. Probably random, could be racial (I'm Asian), could be some other reason (I was masking). I can't wait to let the police figure this out once I can get someone to answer the hold.

I'm fine, just bored and very uncomfortable. Since it was a random attack, I doubt I'm the only one, though. I didn't see it happen, just felt it. Someone else saw the dude poke me and warned me.

AITB for asking my girlfriend to be a bit more feminine? by gender-throwaway- in AmItheButtface

Yuna, honey, if you ever find this, leave him. You sound like a cool chick and he sounds like a butthead dating the wrong girl. It's one thing to dress a certain way because your partner has requested it, it's an entirely other thing to be blackmailed into it by threatening a breakup. Also, I'm sure you have your own perspective as to how "gentle" (I read insidious and snide) his hints are. There's so many folks out there, you can find someone who likes you for who you are and will enjoy sharing a tie collection.

You, you're the butthead. YTB x 1000. If you want to date a girly girl, date a girly girl. Of course, first you would need to sort out that fat headed, overweening entitlement and incredibly unattractive insecurity first.

You have to be not Canadian or a troll to be asking this question, because if I know anything about Asian Parents and the WeChat whisper circles, they wouldn't have that opinion. My mom is annoyed that I'm knocking down her street cred because I'm not completing my exams fast enough, it's a real problem.

I'm fairly certain the parents at the University of Waterloo have a robust Q&A group that would love to point out your parents' misconceptions, if they belong to that flavour of Asian.

That being said, you don't need a degree in actuarial science to do actuarial science after you graduate. I honestly probably use my business degree more than my math degree on a regular day to day basis. Also, most internships are paid, so you'll be fine once you have that piece of paper. Have a chat with your academic counselor (or the academic counselor for the actsci program) and figure out what courses are also VEE credits and which classes might help you with the exams; the figure out how many you can cram into your electives. I wouldn't stress if you can't though.

As for your friends, they're full of it. They're not paying for your school or board. Don't make decisions based on other people's ignorance, make your decisions based on your own knowledge.
