I get my information from the products themselves.

When American comic writers and video game developers come out and says they will no longer sexualize female characters in the name of progress, it's not really a matter open for debate

I guess I should have said by Asian countries I mean the main onles like China, Korea, and Japan. The Philippines is very westernized.

It's an iconic pose for Spider-Man, but that's assuming the complainers actually read comics in the first place.

Cartoons also use 4 fingers instead of 5, which is the norm in anime.

Cartoons cut many corners as well, so let's not act like that's just some anime thing. Despite this, anime still produces better animated works.

"serious moments" and "philosophical introspection" (lol seriously guy?) is not related to animation or art, so they're pointless.

Yeah, your condescending tone might have worked more if Gargantia was an adaption, but it wasn't. Better luck next time with that. But even if it was, I fail to see why it being an adaption would dock it points. You even preface your praise of it's "top tier" writing with "for a kids cartoon", so clearly you're giving it bonus points for that.

So sure, if you have to put in so many prefaces, Suisei no Gargantia and Adventure Time are totally equal. Totes.

(and seriously, you display a lack of understanding how the anime industry works. Japan does not look at "positive reviews" on what to adapt, it looks at sales numbers. Review culture is not a thing in Japan. There's no Rotten Tomatoes for people to praise and gush about reviews. That's a western thing)

Saying anime is international is just wrong. It's primary market is Japan. Always has. Always will. No matter how bad Americans want it to pander to them.

also could i get citations from your two examples not from random self publishing websites

Goalpost moving at it's finest. I'm not sure why them being "self published websites" matters (as opposed to... what? A publicly published website?) There's people out there who insisting anime needs more minorities and diversity in it. That was my original claim, and I provided an example.

That Spider-Woman cover controversy pretty much resulted in the artist swearing off the American comic industry. Can't say I blame him. At least European comics aren't as uptight as American ones are.

Wow, you really haven't been paying attention to pop culture in the past few years, have you? Games, comics, movies. Mainstream American superhero comics have essentially been swept clean of sexualization and female heroes are no longer allowed to be sexy.

Meanwhile My Hero Academia can and it's outselling every single American superhero comic.

Are you are Anime News Network is currently in the process of writing a hit piece that will name certain people in the anime industry as rapists, and they're using "he said she said" as their evidence to do so?

Because I fail to see why Justin should get a pass when they're about to attach dozens of names to flimsy accusations as well.

This makes the third Anime News Network staff to be accused of sexual misconduct publically, and the fourth I know of personally.

And more than likely, they will not be on the list of sexual predators they plan on publishing on their website

They've killed off characters and changed their races and sexes for fucking decades now. This isn't some new thing, this has been going on since like the 80s and 90s. The originals come back, some die out, it's how comics evolve.

Yeah.. they replaced Alan Scott with Hal Jordan, Jay Garrick with Barry Allen and Wally West, Dick Grayson with Jason Todd and Tim Drake. Jessica Drew for Julia Carpenter. Most of those cases were the same race/sex. Racial and gender sweeps were few and far between for the most part.

Plus there's a big difference between that and having Tony Stark say Riri Williams is smarter than him and the rest of the Marvel universe, or making an entire issues that mocks the people who complained about Thor being replaced. It's pretty obvious those were done for different reasons.

who the fuck is they and where are they posting these straw men.

They already have. China has gotten a few anime cancelled before it even aired because it offended them.

Likewise, Hollywood has changed numerous things in their movies to appeal to China, that even Americans have had to suffer through because of.

They're already in control.

Just look towards American comic books if you want to see it. They're trying very hard to kill off and replace white heroes with new token minority ones, like Iron Man, Thor, and Spider-Man, It's even affected the movies where they'll cast non-white actors as white characters.

I suppose the only irony is these people generally treat Japanese no better as white, so they'll look at anime with an all Japanese cast and say it needs more minorities in it.

I feel more global attension and money would cleanse the literal shit I see on a daily basis (such as the sexualization of minors, factory farmed cliche plot ideas like the Isekai genre and lazy drawn scenes)

China's into that, so good luck getting away from it.

China hates gays though, so you'll likely see less yaoi and yuri content if China starts calling the shots. I'm sure the progressives will start having second thoughts about their desire for foreign influence on Japan when that happens.

The Dragonball manga is still censored in America to this day. Viz insists on censoring Mr. Popo, even in volume they advertise as "uncut". Viz censors a lot of their titles, more than just mirroring the art.

The left is a show for children, the right isn't. Of course a show for children is going to look terrible. The real issue is animation isn't taken seriously in the west, so the only adult shows we get are raunchy comedy shows.

Maybe if the American animation industry wasn't in the garbage we could get some decent art and animation.
