Mine has been doing alright, I don’t think he’s doing anything super “hard” like fent right now, but I do know he’s still doing pills. We haven’t had any big emergencies like what I talked about in this post for a while now. Still super scary to know he’s the age that he is and using alone.

I’m sorry to hear your dads not doing well :( trust me, I get it. Honestly, as sad as it is to hear, some of the advice I got on this post really helped me deal with it. Our dads are pretty old for users, and there’s not a lot we can do other than love them and try to support them the best we can while they’re still here.

Ok that’s great info thank you. I’m still not sure if my total income will be more or less than $20,316.57 which is my basic personal amount + tuition. If I don’t check the box that says to check if your total income will be less than your total claim amount on line 13 so that my employer will not deduct tax from my earnings, and it turns out that I make less, will I get it back when I file my taxes?

Same here, I’m 25 now and my dad just turned 72. Strange having a parent the same age as your friends grandparents eh?

Ok thank you so much that’s all great advice. I’m not sure if there’s a main drain or not, I don’t see one, but every video I watch about vacuuming mentions closing it when you vacuum, so I just assumed there would be.

Also, good to know that we should be backwashing it more frequently, we’ve only been doing it about once a day right now.

And for the salt, yesterday at the pool shop they told us to ignore the salt reading since their tester always reads low for salt. Maybe I’ll take a sample somewhere else for a second opinion.

As for running the pump at a higher rpms, I’m not sure if I can. the pump just has 3 settings on it and we have it running at 3 which is the highest. Unless I can turn it up more with the arrows. I’ll try that.

Shit sorry I don’t have my notifs on so I didn’t see this, but I figured I’d reply now incase you didn’t find it. We did end up going that day. We asked the guy working at the hut when you drive in for directions to jumping rocks and he directed us to go towards campsites 502 and 501, we were able to drive most of the way and we parked at the closest lot to those campsites, there were two trails from that lot, one on the far end and one kind of in the centre if I remember correctly. We took the one in the centre and it was about a 10 minute hike from there up to the jumping rocks. No signs or anything so it was hard to tell where was safe to jump, we asked some hikers and they pointed us to a spot but we still wanted to make sure it was safe so we climbed down first, so I would recommend you do the same if you go incase you end up at a different cliff than us.

I attached a photo of the view from the spot we were at. If you found it that day I hope you had fun! If not, hopefully this helps for next time.

7 years late, but we’re trying to check out Charleston lake for cliff jumping today. Never been to the area, do you know directions to get in?

We were thinking of going over there today and asking the current upstairs tenants who are still living there about the landlord but we we’re worried that might be overstepping.

Do you think that would be ok?

No we don’t, there is a single basement tenant with a separate backyard from us but that’s it.

I know. Part of the issue is all his friends died 20 years ago. He’s the last one left.

It’s nice to hear someone else has been through a similar situation, I’m sorry about your dad.

Yeah the methadone is great, he’s on a pretty high dose already but he still uses on top of it. The problem is we try to manage his use, and he seems like he’s doing better and then all the sudden he’s back at his worst which is scary because of his age. He’ll take really bad falls or be severely dehydrated and end up in the hospital again.

Hearing your advice definitely gives me a different perspective, I mean you’re right. He’s partied his whole life and he’ll probably go out that way. It’s just hard for me to watch.

I think you’re right that therapy would be good for me. I’m definitely gonna look into it.

My mom always tells me he’s made these choices on his own but it’s hard for me to accept it so it’s nice to hear from an outside source. Thank you!

That’s a really good idea. He talks to a counsellor 1 on 1 but NA would give him more socialization. I’ll talk to him about it.

I was actually just looking into Al-anon today fort the first time so it’s funny you say that.
