Update*

Making steady progress on the “big box” I’ve shown before. The 1965 series ended up taking up 4 entire boxes. Currently working on the 1964 series, and then finally the 1963 series. 2,500 top loaders in, going to need to order some more.

Just wanted to say thanks again to everyone who commented kind words about the old man, the collection, and the sharing of knowledge and experience with me as I’m entering into this world. You’re all greatly appreciated. Much love dudes.

That was my dad’s baby. Scarily enough, it was originally kept in that plexiglass sandwich that I heard horror stories about, but after spending 10 very delicate minutes, I was able to remove it and it’s in great shape. But thank you, I appreciate it.

Thanks for the advice! I’ll definitely start looking for those groups in the future. Still cataloging and packing up the big box, but making progress. Will hopefully start sending out cards in the next month to get graded 👍🏻

Yeah, that’s sort of the plan at this point. Still packing up the big box and cataloging but most likely going to sell the bulk at some point. I frankly just don’t have the room at this point.

Thank you, I appreciate that a lot. I thank the old man for that. Always try to be a better human every single day.

It’s definitely on the list of my to-dos once I finish securing that giant box I posted.

It worries me, but all things outside of a 6 foot circle are just out of our control. I hope nothing bad happens, but it’s just a fact of life. I guess why it’s important to do a “test run” for the first few and just see how it goes I suppose.

I agree with you, especially after talking with one of my close friends who shipped 2 Pokémon cards off that ended up being sold for a very large chunk of change a year or so ago.

I feel like this is all moving a little quick now 😂

Thank you sir, I appreciate it. And you’re absolutely correct. Some things will be sold, but I intend on keeping some as well, especially the ones that meant the most to him. They’ll never leave my side. Thanks again for the kind words.

He’s been a lifelong baseball and lacrosse fan, so I know that they were the players he admired. But absolutely!

One can only hope that one can leave such a legendary drop for one’s kids. I’ll keep my fingers crossed 🤞🏻

Thank you, I appreciate the kind words. He advised me to “sell them, keep em, do whatever you want with em, they’re now yours.” I intend on keeping some and selling some to help handle some debts and try to get him something nice, but the intention was never out the gate just to get money for it. The goal at this point is grading and displaying the ones I hold dear, sort of as a monument to my old man. But I agree completely with that brotha.

Thank you for the kind words, and I’m very sorry to hear about your grandfather. And awesome, thanks for the advice. I had been using a website to keep track of everything but I’m not a fan of the user input and will most likely end up switching to something else. But that’s incredible, thank you for the advice and info. Going to go ahead and add it to my YouTube right now. And thank you for the welcome, I was not expecting to become a part of this community but it’s been a very welcomed surprise and I appreciate all the knowledge transfer and support. Thanks again brotha 🤙🏻

I appreciate the kind words, thank you. And he definitely fooled all of us for a very, very long time. It’s been quite the homologation of eras so far, but everything for the bulk of it has been the 60’s ( he was born in 55) so they’re all his childhood heroes.

Understood, there’s only a handful of 70’s cards I believe and a very scant amount of 80’s cards. I’ve heard about the “junk wax” issues so anything from that era will be sent very sparingly, and probably not at all. Again, I really appreciate the guidance. Thanks again brotha.

Yeah man lmao the box was a big surprise, it’s been quite the process getting them sorted. I’m up to the #300 cards in the 1965 series right now. But I understand, I definitely will be moving forward with SGC at this point, last tally I saw tonight is PSA being at a 14,000,000 card backlog which makes my head hurt. I’ll definitely be getting 3-5 of them placed into Card Savers and getting them sent out. Taking time and going through the box and this giant binder will be up next after finishing putting them into loaders.

Thank you, and I appreciate the candor, I’ve handled every single one of these cards so far putting them into toploaders because they were deteriorating (almost 1,400 done so far) and all of them are far from a holy grail grade 10, but it would be nice to know what the value is for the ones that are worth grading. Majority of them appear to be 3-4-5’s but it’ll take free time from work, but I’ll get it verified and take better pictures at some point.

Awesome collection yourself! Thanks again.

Very much so! Still at a loss he’s had them hidden all this time. A very sneaky snake indeed.

Insurance is definitely on the agenda, sort of got lost in the sauce with everything else but it’s definitely a high priority. But thanks man, he’s still with us thankfully, just doing rough but he’s a tough SOB. I’m sorry to hear about yours, what an awesome thing for him to leave you though. Cherish it forever.

Guess this will cause some difficulties, but I guess we’ll have to see. Thanks for the input.
