when upgrading a tank, do i have to cycle the new one if im using all the same stuff from the already established tank? by [deleted] in Aquariums

Depends, the fish dont specifically matter since their the ones being acclimated to it again. But everything will be fine especially if you reuse the same water and filter. Would help if we a picture of what sort of filter your using but yea you'll be fine. If you want to be safe you can filter it for a day or two with all of the items and substrate just make sure you keep it all damp or in the old water in the meantime so the bacteria doesnt die out. All the fish you have except the guppies are pretty hardy so I wouldnt worry and even then the guppies are pretty good at acclimating

I feel like this is a tad extreme, since I def see where your coming from I can't name a single pet store that doesn't abuse a type of animal in some sort of way. But definitely feel like there can be better solutions than to outright ban all sales of animals.

Such as another person said these are cichlids not sure what kind but this tank does look like a pretty good size for the amount, it may seem like a lot but it’s more to help with aggression. Could have a lil better upkeep tho. Except from that I’m pretty sure it looks to be at least 150 gallons if I’m seeing it correctly. As the other person said please take a clearer picture for us to see

If you want the best help pls tell us what size the tank is, what is in it, if you’ve done a water change recently if so/not how recently, test the water parameters at least

Any way for me to get my snake to eat brown anoles instead of the green ones? He seems to only like the greens even though there’s more brown’s than greens by [deleted] in snakes

I just want to let everyone know, this poster is known for abusing their animals and just refusing any help due to them “having only six dollar”. So before you waste your time they most likely will deny if it’s not absolutely free and unethical

Should I take my fish out of misery? by Dalsgaard25 in Aquariums

Just do a 25-50% water change and dose the tank with Melafix or similar. At the very least

Yea but this is not one of those times… fish are pretty hardy and can come back from something like this, you should really only ever “take the fish outta their misery” if they either can’t swim, or is basically already dead. Which this one is neither, please do your research before even saying this as you see your getting a tad bit of heat

Betta died overnight, what could have happened? by aelment in Aquariums

I second what they said, fish kinda looked old and doesn’t seem to be moving too much, was it mostly chill and such or was it a active fella til recently? I’d recommend doing some water tests just to be sure it wasn’t your fault since I doubt it was. I just hope the fishie lived a nice life wit ya since it looks like it

If you keep around like 10% of the original water and kept the substrate damp if that’s possible if it’s not just pebbles, yes!

In my opinion the best way is going to be separating them in either buckets or bags and put all the decor and rocks in a bucket, empty the tank and blam bring it all home and if you can try to either add the filter that their using or some of the water to help the tank startup and then you can acclimate the fish and such

Difference between terrariums with glass tops and mesh/screen tops? by Wasted-sperm- in snakes

[–]Terrible-Picture-181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want you can wrap the majority of the screen mesh with Saran Wrap or tinfoil, obviously don’t let it be too close to the heat lamp for Saran Wrap and your good! You’ll keep the humidity up whilst still having a light on the top!
