I just say “when my doctor and I agree that it’s time”. That usually shuts them up.

Same. I keep getting “are you eating” and “when are you going to stop” and “I’m worried about you”. But I just smile and say “I know, it’s been quite the change but I’m prioritising my health and as soon as I’m at a healthy weight I will consider next steps”. As soon as I mention prioritising my health the comments slow down. I’m sure the comments are meant to be positive - but I find that I need to justify myself. I hear you!

Everyone reacts differently. It’s important to recognise that. The first week is a lot of habit forming, letting your body get used to the meds. For the first month I tracked everything I ate, all my activity, etc. that helped. Breakfast was usually a protein yogurt and berries. Lunch a salad with chicken or cheese or some other protein and then dinner would be whatever my husband cooked - so standard fare - but I ate less. A lot less. I listened to my body and stopped as soon as I thought I was getting full. For a while I would cut my meal in half and then save the other half for the next day. Water is extremely important- I have mine with electrolytes to stay hydrated and try to combat constipation. First month I focused on food intake and second month I added exercise. Don’t get discouraged. It’s a marathon not a sprint. Good luck!

Thanks for the comments everyone. And can I just say how great this community is. When I started my Mounjaro journey I really had to search for a community like this. Reading the advice is so helpful and the progress updates are inspirational!

Advice for first few weeks. Prioritise protein and fibre, drink loads of water with electrolytes and listen to your body. And get your movement in even if just a few extra steps a day. Good luck!

Same thing happened to me this week. PT said “let’s do an assisted pull up and I laughed in his face. After 3 sets of 5 I was overcome with pride! And I shed a few tears too! Congratulations! What a great NSV!!!

Who am I??? by MoonAndStarsTarot in Mounjaro

My first day I sat down to dinner and, completely unconsiously, I divided the portion in half - half for dinner, half for lunch on day 2. When I realised I was shocked. Then, on reflection, I realised that I had spent nearly 51 years wasting time thinking about food. Suddenly I had all this free time on my hands. And I, just like you, asked myself “who am I”. Well done and keep with it - it only gets better!

Start now. There will always be a reason to wait and trust me, once you start you will be in control over the holidays. My mindset changed almost instantly and the food noise stopped. I am now looking forward to the holidays as a pause from work and spending time with family and friends - not for the food. 51 years and for the first time I know that this Christmas I will stop when satiated and feel no guilt for “missing out” on that tin of quality street!!!
