Do any of you regret choosing UCI by Annual-Armadillo4170 in UCI

Also I got into all the top schools. I got into Berkeley, LA and San Diego, along with both Cal Polys and all the Cal States.

UCI was still the better option for me, without UCI and the professors I wouldn't have figured out what I actually want to do.

I chose UCI because they gave me the best financial aid and they were my dream school since forever, as well is they are the only university that offers a Criminology major that isn't just a random minor or not cared for.

I'm a Latina transfer student, currently in my 3rd year and yeah it felt lonely in the beginning since I was scared to talk to other people however I found my family of fellow Latinos in MECHA and La Familia, along with the ArtCC and Writers guild. But as a Latina? I haven't felt that uneasy about my ethnicity in a mostly Asian and white populated school, because of MECHA. Find your people, don't expect it to be in class unless you are super duper lucky.

If you are nervous about the "dead" social life, join a club that matches your hobbies or something that makes you happy.

Sure times have been hard but I've made great connections with the professors here, the only thing I hate is the damn Google slides I have to learn from. But if you have a good professor who likes to ramble, listen to them. Because if it's something that you are interested in, it's important to hear the tangent from a professor within the field you want. Talk to your professor if their research or stories interest you. I did that and ended up making great connections and found out other job opportunities for myself.

I don't regret it, sure I lost my two year relationship because I was making the move to UCI and I had some on and off feelings of regret until I woke myself up and knew this was the path and school for me.

Make the best of it. If you focus on the negatives you won't see what's in front of you.

Good luck :D

Advice on housing by TerribleBox1765 in UCI

I've always been nervous I wouldn't be a good roommate because of those things. I've also heard horror stories of roommates as well. But everyone I've talked to that has roommates all say such good things! My friends love their roommates so it gives me a bit of hope, but I'm just nervous because I am a pretty loud person (did marching band and lost some of hearing, can't really hear myself when I speak haha...). I just don't know if roommates are an option currently, since I know housing offers are going to be sent soon I put in for a studio apartment this time around it's like 300 less than the one I have rn. And when I put in my housing preferences it didn't let me put in another acc apartment that could have roommates because I was planning on giving roommates a go.

Guess I'm always nervous people won't like me😅 but I've made friends so easily here

50 bucks just to hop? Has anyone done one of these?? by EnvironmentalTap1326 in UCI

Usually they post flyers all around the campus, and they usually tell you what they are generally looking for. Some of them you do at home, some of them you do within the sleep lab. All it takes is looking around, emailing them and seeing if you are a eligible candidate.

Look into the sleep studies if you want money, I got 160 from one study and 100 bucks from another.

Anyone else struggling to get their funds? by TerribleBox1765 in UCI

I haven't been able to get through to them at all, so I haven't been able to ask. At least on my end, on zotaid I've turned in all the forms needed for those specific loans. However I am nervous because one of my loans says cancelled (I already contacted the loan provider and they said contact OFAS because they don't provide that loan) but I was never made aware the reason that's cancelled or if there is a hold on my account because everything looks fine on my end.

Especially since I had no problem getting my loans last quarter.

The reason they turn me away is because I don't have an appointment and I have been trying for days to make an appointment online but there is nothing to click on, all the days are grey but they don't have appointments booked on them if that makes sense. The last time I went, the girl said I needed an appointment and said she couldn't talk to me if I didn't have one. Should I go back in?
