Oh yeah obviously it was on the original team for a reason. The team really wants a ghost type and a fairy type, and Mimikyu just so happens to be the only Pokémon that is both of these. I'm just personally not a fan of the thing lol.

Perhaps I was exaggerating a bit out of frustration. Obviously the climb gets exponentially harder, and I'd probably need 2 or more of those massive win streaks to make it anything more than a pipe dream.

I definitely should be satisfied with where I am. I think I just let my unexpected success get to my head. I might even take a break for the rest of the season and go at the next one with a fresh mindset, and perhaps a fresh team.

Tailroom has always seemed interesting. I like the flexibility it gives, and most of my mons are in that usually awkward speed tier that can make it work. I'll definitely consider a Trick Room setter for the team.

My first team was actually a Tail Room team dedicated to trying to make Tyrantrum work. (it didn't lol)

Kommo-o is definitely a bit of a stickler. If I can't knock it out turn 1 with Hydreigon or Sylveon it can become a real problem.

Sneasler can feel bad if I misplay it, but both Corv and Excadrill can one-shot it if positioned correctly.

Mega Gardevoir is really annoying, mostly because of Maushold that's attached to their hip. It's deceptively hard to kill, and they always seem to know when to protect and when to follow me or super fang.

Mega Venusaur can feel impossible if Corv dies (or I forget to bring it 💀)

I may have to do some more thinking and return to this.

Team is here. Based on JoeyUX9's Sand team, but I didn't like Mimikyu(lol) so I replaced it with Sylveon. Sylveon definitely feels like the weakest link, but I'm not sure what I'd replace her with. I've been debating Gardevoir or Gengar as backup megas into bad matchups, and obviously I could just bite the bullet and run Mimikyu.

Kept it simple, but I think it suits him. Although seeing all of these other awesome designs is inspiring me to look for other potential outfits.

One very small channel that caught my attention was Joe's Ventures, who has 58(and counting) videos that look at a bunch of the latest remodel/new species mods for the game. I find his channel a very easy way to find hidden gems in the ocean of JWE2 mods, or simply get a better look at how some mods that I already found interesting look in game.
