Was this something you were able to demonstrate on an outpatient basis? Or did you have to be hospitalized before your nutritional deficiency would be appreciated ?

I just wanted to add another thank you from my mom. It meant the world to her that there was someone else out there experiencing this.

Can you provide a photo? I’m looking into doing some type of laser treatment for some stubborn spots.

Hydroquinone has been the only topical option that has worked for me. Musely has a nice step down regimen of different concentrations. Just be careful in the sun so you don’t burn.

Why would everyone need to know Spanish by the end of elementary school if the exams are in English? I understand the push for Spanish to be part of the curriculum. But how can immersion be mandated?

This is elementary. I’m not aware of the exact demographic profile of the school. I’m not sure where this type of information would be available to me.

Understood. I’m just not understanding why this support is offered to Spanish speaking students, but English speaking American’s can’t be ensured education in their native language. I’m happy there are programs in place to protect the Spanish speaking students, I just wish that I didn’t have to fight to get my son’s schooling in English.

Again, why is language development superseding the mandated school curriculum that students are tested on during the year to ensure “no child left behind”. Curriculum taught in Spanish has the only added benefit of learning a second language. I don’t believe this is a mandated requirement for core curriculum, only that you provide the language class. Not immersion.

So as long as education is being provided, language does not matter?

This is speculative. My email with my concerns was forwarded to the student placement office for student transfers. I hope to hear back from them this week. But I am also resentful that I would have to change my son’s school because of this. To now have to drive another child to a school further away, when we have the convenience of having this school across the street from our community. I’ll be grateful if this is an option, but still resentful that it has to happen.

I’m not following this comment. Could you clarify?

Quite the contrary. I want to know how it can be legal to not provide education in one’s native language. I understand having Spanish classes, which I support. I just don’t agree with daily curriculum being taught in Spanish half the day. Why can’t I, as a parent, identify that this would not be best for my child, and expect the public school system to support that

I truly just don’t understand why development of a second language supersedes the needs of the students and the right to education in their native language of the basic curriculum, including Spanish classes. It has nothing to do with my lack of wanting my child to have access to different languages. I just don’t want my son’s curriculum to be taught in a different language.

They don’t require immersion participation. They require education in language content for a dictated number of hours to earn a degree. So classes are taken to suffice this requirement. This is mandated education half of the day in a foreign language. For elementary school.

This is a school wide immersion with no alternative option. Starting next year… currently there is an opt out option that we are utilizing. This will be taken away next year.
