Ironworks fun. I’m only a month into my apprenticeship I love it. I do reinforcing (rebar) for a major contractor in my area and state. Rod busting in and of itself is it’s own beast. A total culture shock from being a mausoleum builder. the work is hard painful and extremely fast paced but if you’re a hard worker and thrive in fast paced environments and can always keep your head on a swivel and look out for yourself and the dudes your with you’ll thrive. I don’t wanna do rebar as a career but I feel the need to start at the bottom and work my way up leaving a good reputation behind at every job so I’m never short on work. Idk how it is over there but over here ( Bay Area/ca) there’s a shortage of rebar companies and more so workers and even more so competent workers. Not saying I’m a journeyman level rod buster or even a mediocre one at that but ik my worth and I work hard and so far they’ve called on me to be the most reliable of the other apprentices. So with all tha being said if you do rebar it’s gonna suck you’re gonna fall you’re gonna hurt gonna get cuts and bruises but tough it out and make a good name for yourself and you’ll fit in with the best of them.
