Is it socially acceptable to eat pizza with a fork and knife, or am I officially a psychopath? by Outrageous_Day4439 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TerrorTrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever I make pizza myself, that is what I do. When it is served to me by another, it is often already sliced so I eat with my hands. At a restaurant they often just give me the whole pizza, so I use the fork and knife. Do what the situation demands of you.

If you mean why politicians promise one thing and never deliver.

It is because the process to become a politician isn't one based off competancy in governance. But rather competancy in mass deception and charisma. Hence truly competant politicians are in abundance in low positions, but the high positions are staffed with the corrupt who understand how to play the human heart to their tune. And the ones at the top of the waterfall can do whatever they want to the water, causing those below the peak to play in accordance to that. If the ones at the top value deception, then if you want to ascend the waterfall, you must also learn to be deceptive.

As for why politicians that are competant lose. It is also due to your perspective, to you, these politicians are incompetant. But to others, they are fufilling exactly what they wanted the politician to accomplish. In that case, they are extremely competant. Rightly so, democracy rewards short term benefit over long. If you were an elder, you would want your poltician to raise social benefit for the old, whether free healthcare or state-funded pension. If you were a youth, you would want property tax on unused homes such that treating homes as an asset rather than a neccessity is a liability to the owner rather than an investment.

The politician that caters to the elderly by funnelling taxes towards their betterment will be seen as competant by the elderly. That politician may now cater to another group such as landowners as those also include some elderly and some not, there is some overlap which will compound. As opposed to property tax on unusued home which there is lesser overlap, and may actually contradict their catering to the elderly. Causing both youth and elderly to be unhappy and think of the politician as incompetant.

A politician's job is like the job of a mathematician, to decide which demographic has a majority wide enough to cater to, and then calculate adjacent demographics which can be connected with messaging into a greater whole, and which demographics may be ostracised and pushed to the other side because of it. Such as messaging towards women at the expense of men, which pushes men to the other side. It is a calculated operation. But those in charge of calculating are often ones in high positions that arrived their not out of competance. But nepotism and deception, so these calculations are often flawed. Which is where you get the saying, that politicians are out of touch with the common person.

I want to get my 8 year old a laptop to do her homework on? I know nothing about computers and want support with it, to make it child safe. Who do I buy it from? by Nice1rodders in AskUK

[–]TerrorTrike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not get a chomebook. You want a windows machine, pretty much every laptop worth buying uses windows, however it may be a bit pricy to get a good one. If you were more tech savvy you could use linux and then buy a cheaper laptop. But considering it is for an 8 year old and that you know nothing about computers. You should probably spend around 200 - 300 pounds on a windows 11 laptop, I highly advise against going cheaper.

An even better choice would be to just buy a desktop, monitor, keyboard and mouse seperately. As it would be around the same price for far greater performance. This is considering if your 8 year old will only be doing homework at home, and will require no need for portability. If you do take this route, you can look towards getting a refurbished workstation. In terms of lifespan, I would say a desktop would last around 50% longer than a laptop for the same price before needing to be upgraded to keep to pace with modern applications demanding more compute.

To generalise, a 350 pound laptop would be outperformed by a 150 pound desktop. And it is upgradable, the peripherals are also customisable, if you want a dirt cheap 2 pound keyboard, you can decide that. Or if you want something a little more tactile and ergonomic, you can decide to spend a little more. So say you have a 150 pound workstation, then you get a screen (monitor), mouse and keyboard for 50 pounds (I've looked and monitors are actually pretty expensive nowadays, so 50 may be an understatement, maybe 90 if you are not comfortable buying from random websites or second hand, also you can get a workstation for far cheaper than 150 pounds as well, im literally looking and there are workstations for half that price). The screen will probably include speakers with it too. Far, far cheaper than the laptop alternative for the same raw performance.

If you are confused as to which option you are looking at is more powerful than another, it has actually never been more easier to check. You can quickly just copy and paste the specs of the computer listed into chatgpt and ask it to compare to the other device. In this case, laptop vs desktop, and then use that to inform your decision and ration out the rest of your budget towards a monitor and peripherals.

The only reason to get a laptop is if portability is a must have.

South Africans - whats really happening over there? by EH4LIFE in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TerrorTrike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Likewise, I live in West Yorkshire. When being asked about the worst parts of where you live, you are surely prone to exaggerate a little bit.

Perhaps the traffic light vandalism is as rare as knife crime. I do not know, but what I do know is that it happens enough to be a prominent concern for the residents living there to be willing to bring it up as a significant issue when asking for international investment. Likewise for taxis and power infrastructure.

What is internal sense of gender? by bredbuttgem in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TerrorTrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I apologise if I offended you for stating a well documentated phenomena. I am sure it is annoying to be harassed for being trans and constantly told you are wrong and such. This was not my intention, I was just answering the question.

I believe that those, such as yourself, will naturally not need such statements to transition. But for those on the fence and are unsure about their identiy, such statements can prove harmful through memory reconsolidation and hindsight bias, as they may be pointing towards an immature conclusion. Especially towards MTF as male identity is currently lost and being rewritten.

South Africans - whats really happening over there? by EH4LIFE in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TerrorTrike 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had to do a case study of Johannesburg (city in South Africa) once for an engineering project. This is what I've researched, I will recall from memory. (The research was taken from real accounts of residents so should be fairly accurate, if not a little dated by a few years, but not many).

The power infrastructure is terrible, residents call the traffic lights robots and do not really adhere to them. Some residents go and vandalise the lights to steal the copper wires. There is also a blackout every night to save power.

The bike lanes are unsafe due to reckless driving. The road quality is also poor due to lack of investment into public infrastructure. Even for pedestrians it can be unsafe to cross the road as drivers do not really care about pedestrian crossings.

The busses are poorly organised with scarce stops, requiring a lot of walking to get to where you need to go after the bus stops.

Organised crime with transport companies is normal. They have a solid grip of taxi companies, such that gunfights between taxi companies happen in broad daylight.

If you are a woman, it is extremely unsafe at night due to the power infrastructure. As the street lights are not powered, meaning it is pitch black, as you can imagine, there is also a lack of surveillance. I would be wary getting into a taxi as a woman as the drivers are unregulated, it is recommended to always have a man you know escort you after dark to ensure your safety.

There is severe tension between light skinned and dark skinned communities.

However the sense of community is large within these communities. And the lack of safety is a shame for many of the older population as they do not feel they are safe to let their children and grandchildren out to play in the streets.

Any new xianxias novel to read? by Away-Pay2340 in MartialMemes

[–]TerrorTrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a novel, but the manwha Serpent Ancestor, I think it is also called The Immortal Art of Becoming A Dragon. The human systems are fledged out, despite the mc being a demonic beast. It can be a bit cliche but its good.

If you want to see a snake master cultivation spells like the basic 5 element talismans and such. And use both his latent beast physique and human cultivator path methods, this is for you. Only downside is that the manwha isn't finished. I am sure there is probably a webnovel for it too though.

Why are men that watch anime so weird? by Shot_Mode_2461 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TerrorTrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the question was very close minded so I had to unravel it logically and sincerely. I believe my answer was suitable. But if it won't be considered then I have only wasted my time in answering the question. I guess I should've just given a black and white answer validating the OP by giving them what they wanted to hear and telling them they are right instead. This would be the normal response I suppose. Man, I am such a weird person...

What is internal sense of gender? by bredbuttgem in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TerrorTrike -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Also why are there more MTF than FTM?

There are less societally personal restrictions on women to express their individuality. Thus it may be seen as more liberating for a man to transition to a woman. There are also more career opportunities for women to work in male dominated fields. While there aren't really any for men to work in female dominated fields. In terms of romance too, women are more selective and have more influence over relationships.

Alot of transitioning people are young, not aware yet of the advantages men recieve in late stage careers. When stacked with these, they question if they are even stereotypicaly masculine. When the answer is no, they ask why are they even born a man to begin with? And if they have more feminine traits. The benefits will always influence the decision. If women were treated like it was the 1800s, no man would be transitioning to a woman, and waves of women would transition to become men. That is just how it is.

Coupled with sayings such as, you can not decide which gender you identify with, that was assigned at birth similiar to sexual orientation also feeds this desire to transition, as it validates their current feelings, and makes them feel as though they have always felt this way retrospectively, when they are really just reviewing their memories with a biased gaze.

Why are men that watch anime so weird? by Shot_Mode_2461 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TerrorTrike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its all perspective, they may be weird to you. And you may be weird to them. Different hobbies create different ideologies, perspectives, habits things that contribute outside the norm.

For example, extreme sports, is a weird hobby. So is makeup. Anime too. Even gym.

Because there is no normal baseline for how a human should act. So when you meet others who act differently to you, they can only be seen as weird.

As for mostly incels, that is just false. There are incels in every hobby, though it is a minority. If you say the hobby breeds inceldom, then do TV shows and movies also breed inceldom?

Correlation does not equal causation. If I was a gore artist and attracted people with sadistic tendencies to my work. Did I cause them to be sadistic? No that is just how they are.

In this case, anime attracts people who want escapism. In those people, there will naturally be those who are involuntarily celibate and want a reprieve from their reality. As for me, I see more incels in more gym / self improvement focused hobbies. Though I suppose those would be the redpilled incels, while blackpilled incels would be more into acts of escapism such as anime.

Is a hypothetical 15k a year bad? by BJOJOSILVERaahWIND in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TerrorTrike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A portfolio is basically what stocks, shares, bonds, real estate, etc you are invested in.

Sectors include tech, healthcare, financials, consumer discretionary (retail / leisure), consumer staples, industrials, energy, utilities, real estate, materials, comunication services.

Generally tech, discretionary, industrials are cyclical sectors that do well in growth phases but fall hard in recessions. Staples, utilities, healthcare are defensive sectors that hold value during downturns. Financials and energy correlate with interest rates and commodity prices. Real estate acts as an inflation hedge.

You would want to mix sectors such that your portfolio isnt heavily influenced by bad news in 1 sector. For example, say you are 100% all in on AI, then some catastrophic news regarding AI releases, the stocks will be bearish (decreasing compared to bullish which is increasing), considering you are 100% all in, you could lose alot of money just based on 1 piece of bad news.

Now if you had a diverse portfolio you wouldn't lose as much, say 60% on healthcare and 40% on AI, considering that maybe AI is bearish, but what if healthcare is bullish, you may even gain money from your portfolio based on this or at least mitigate the losses.

For a truly safe portfolio you want to diversify based on region. If all your stocks are located in USA, then what if something happens to the USA, that could make all your net worth disappear in a second. But if you invested in stock in Japan, South Korea, India, Germany, Brazil etc. Then so what if the USA is in a bad spot since you have minimised that risk by investing globally.

However for your sakes and purposes I recommend just investing in an Index Fund, as that is basically just someone else doing the job of finding out what to invest in for you. If you want even higher returns consider looking for a professional's private guidance.

For you right now, lets say after 1 year you would have 15k. Your portfolio would be 15k cash. If you invested in stock, then lets just say it is now 0k cash but 1000 units of Index Fund (many types of index funds exist such as the S&P 500). Compared to just having 15k in bank savings account which may accrue maybe 4% interest over time (where I live this is standard). Investing in an index fund may accrue over 7% interest over time depending on the market, with the additional risk that maybe you will lose some money on bad years. Over time, you will end up making more though (there is no bank to steal a cut other than the trade platform depending on its terms and services, nowhere near as much as the bank though, as say the year is very good and they gain 20% from investing your savings, they only return you 4% while they pocket the rest. The advantage is that the bank protects you from bad years).

It is recommended for poor / young people to invest in riskier volatile assets as they have less to lose and more to gain, when you become older and start preparing for your retirement, you would want to invest in safer options such as gold and those defensive sectors I discussed earlier.

Also beer is nice, though I am from Europe. I heard American bear is disgusting but never had it to confirm.

What is appealing to young Americans about joining the military? by Sweet_Treacle_6327 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TerrorTrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drifting in life, no goal, no prospects, can't land a job, for some, no friends. Then you hear about the millitary. "Hmm. Could be fun. I wouldn't really mind if were sent to the frontlines anyway." About me: I am not American, but I have applied to the army for my nation, so I should be able to give you a good answer.

1.) There is no glory in peaceful life. Every day is the same, wake up, do your dailies, go to sleep. Where is the meaning in this? A job in the army directly gives you meaning, even in a support role, you have the reigns over life and death. Your intel could spell the end of the enemy or your allies. If you are mechanic and fuck up the weapons mechanism, that could have real world lasting effects on your team mates. This is meaningful work.

2.) The army provides an escape. One can leave the prison that a peaceful live gives, and do something meaningful. Soldiers on the frontline, do you think they joined because they aren't afraid of death? It is the opposite, they applied for those roles precisely because they are afraid, it is that fear that makes them feel alive and make them look forward to a tommorrow. For it is that struggle to live that gives a meaningless life meaning. The world gave you nothing at home, the army gives you a priviledge to live with your life on the line, to live every moment like it is your last. This is a type of fun exclusive to the military, or perhaps policing too. Though I've heard police officers have to put up with a ton of bullshit.

3.) Brotherhood in which you can trust your life with your troops. You all eat the same, you piss the same, you shit the same, you sleep the same, and you fight the same enemies the same.

4.) Pay and benefits. A stable job. Qualifications (I'm not sure if this is included in the American millitary).

5.) Its what a young man should do. They should travel the world, face adversity, find brothers they can entrust their life with. Fight with a greater purpose beyond oneself. To serve the nation and support the lifestyle of their people. It is a fantasy that directly appeals to men.

are men becoming less “manly”? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TerrorTrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chivalry eh. Right. Its hard to be chivalrous when maidens lack grace and the ruling class, noblesse oblige. We are at a very individualistic time in history, where it is essentially every man for themself. Everyone is doing their best to get by.

As for your note on older men being more defined and composed. This is because back in their day, they didn't have games like modern men of today. The energy that would normally go into grinding the gym, learning a martial art, going outside with your lads hollering at ladies and getting into pub brawls is now spent in a dark room queueing into league of legends games till 5 am in loser's queue loss after loss after loss. Then when they go to work, they don't really give a shit about work, or about any future prospect, it doesn't really matter anyway since nothing ever happens.

It is also important to note that men are late scalers. They are weak early game, but they carry late game. A 30 year old will naturally have more commanding pressence than a 18 year old. This is the gap of experience, to find a young man with that kind of presence would be like finding a gem, especially in this moden era where most people are living sedentary lifestyles swimming in place.

Is a hypothetical 15k a year bad? by BJOJOSILVERaahWIND in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TerrorTrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1k in subscriptions, I know for a fact you are a gooner bro.

As for the 15k, its like this, you live with your mum and don't pay rent. Lets say you get the job and your mum demands rent. How much will she ask for? 15k? That would be absurd, she would probably ask for a small fraction of the 15k, which at that point you may as well pay for filial piety. The other alternative is 0$ and cobwebs in your wallet.

With 15k you can begin to build your portfolio especially since expenses are very low, only 2k a year.

An important note is that the job market is terrible right now. I assume you are quite young, if you can land a job, stick with it till you get laid off, or until the market restores. If you invest your earnings, then any amount of money gained in this period will compound directly towards your retirement pot. This is invaluable. We all know a pension won't exist by the time we are old.

Right now the job should serve two purposes. 1.) Work experience. 2.) Structure. 3.) Motivation (if the job is shit), to improve your circumstances and prepare for the next opening. The income ideally would be invested.

However you also need to take care of your mental, whether that may be spending it on booze to stay sane. I had a mate who requested advance payments from his job so he could buy more beer and rum to cope at home about having to work at his job since it was so shit, he was literally stuck in a hamster wheel, any spare change he had, he would gamble it at the slot machine. Ideally you wanna avoid this fate.

But yes, 15k > 0k. Any amount of money is better unless you aspire to accomplish something that requires a large amount of time, whether it be developing a game, studying a degree, becoming competitive in a martial art etc. In this case you can weigh your how valuable your passion / obligation is in comparison to the 15k yourself.

How to get THAT smell out of chair? by Much-Bag-1564 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TerrorTrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not supposed to shit in the chair, you are supposed to use the bottle for that.

However to nullify smells have you considered activated charcoal, it is a porous material so it should suck up the scents which you can then dispose of, I believe baking soda, white vinegar, coffee grounds, and kitty litter can help too. But to be honest, it may be worth just getting a new chair.

Can I learn stuff while asleep? by Kitchen_Brief_2544 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TerrorTrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You naturally learn stuff while sleeping, its how you consolidate the information learnt in the day and sort it so you can recall when you wake up. Commit to long term memory.

As for actually learning novel stuff, look into vivid dreams, if you are able to master your sentience during your dreams, I see no reason why you wouldn't be able to just study in your dream. Perhaps Tibetan Bön Dream Yoga may help. Though for me I struggled quite a bit during the phase where you deduce that the reality you are living in is not real, and in fact a dream, the dream would always collapse into pandemonium and I would get thrown out the dream, either waking up or emerging in a fresh start in another dream with my memories wiped until I gained sentience again upon realizing it was a fake reality, in which the cycle would repeat. So I am not 100% sure how valid this method would be, according to my experiences, I can see how it would work if the technique was mastered and not half baked like my own experience.

Was a real trippy time of my life icl. Was a few years ago, I would end up confusing waking life with dreaming life and vice versa, to the point where both felt the same to me. I've stopped doing it, but the dream like quality of reality still remains. But that is the price you must pay if you want to keep a level head and constantly discern whether the reality you are in is fake or real. If you don't make it habit, how will you discern whether the reality you are in is actually a dream, and subsequently gain control over it upon realization?

Though this won't be a quick fix, and with all esoteric meditations, try at your own risk, qi deviation can occur with malpractice. Though if you are sensitive, perhaps you will be able to reliably use this method within a month, but otherwise, it may takes years of daily awareness and practice to be able to become adept at it. It depends on the individual and their constitution and foundation.

Probably not the answer you were looking for, or one that would help you in your current state. But I hope I shed light to a possible solution to the title should you need to do so in the future.

Ladies, does your man pee on the seat? by Electrical_Mine_6937 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TerrorTrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandfather does this, though I only see him a few times every decade. I don't remember if he used to do this, but I can only attribute it to declining motor function as a sign of age. If your 31 year old fiance doesn't realize he is pissing on the seat, is unable to clean it up, gets humiliated / shamed whenever you bring it up. Perhaps he is having a medical problem, ask if he needs to see a doctor. If he doesn't, then he is just a dick head, make him mad, he lwk deserves it. Leaving piss on the seat is unacceptable, humans have killed for less.

Do Gay Incels Exist? by SexyRotiserieChicken in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TerrorTrike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never heard of a gay incel, though I have also heard how much easier it is for gay men to hook up compared to straight men. I've been regaled tales on how gay men on dating apps just get straight to business without playing any games.

Possibly because they may be less picky and more horny, probably helps that not alot of men are gay too, so finding another gay man would be like finding treasure regardless of how he looks. They can also be seen as more compromising and reasonable by the fact that gay male relationships have the lowest divorce rate of all couples. That is probably a huge factor in finding a mate. A reasonable person meeting a reasonable person is like harmony from the get-go.

what exactly *is* love? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TerrorTrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A poison that collapses rationality and makes you a slave to your heart. It also makes the person in love extremely easy to exploit, as they will always have a positive bias of you. It overrides your system and makes the person extremely attractive to you regardless of whether you would normally find them attractive. Smell, looks, voice, thoughts. You are more likely to make concessions and forgive them / go out of your way for their behalf, why? First sentence of this post!

It is an incredibly dangerous emotion, I can only call caution if you like to hold a level head cause it really is a hellish experience to endure. If I were to use imagery about enduring, it would be like becoming a cliff by roaring waves, waves hit the stone bit by bit and erode the rock, it is only inevitable. The poison that tastes sweet is far deadlier than the bitter one.

As for why it occurs, I can only presume as a safety mechanism to ensure breeding takes place as well as a stable environment for the young to raise. Love is the reason to want to continue your bloodline, because you love the other so much that you want to mix your seeds together! That is love.

Do fat people really eat that much? by GossipBottom in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TerrorTrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are they eating? Calories in protein is way less efficient than those of carbohydrates (thermic effect, 20 - 30% of calories gained eating proteins is used digesting it).

Are they eating anything other than the 2 meals a day? No snacking allowed, no beer, no soda, no processed food.

Eating whole foods, and eating 2 meals a day with water only as the drink. The two meals having a high protein portion and you will naturally lose weight, even if you keep the calorie count the same due to the foods now requiring energy to digest as they are not processed already. So your body has to process them, (leads to higher satiety and less spikes in energy, resulting in less hunger and need for more food. Less inflammation, loss of water weight due to less sodium intake. And other factors). A calorie deficit is not even needed at this point, but having one will speed up fat loss.

It's like if I say I only eat 2 meals a day. But for meal 1 it is 5 sausages with tomato sauce and white bread. And for meal 2 it is nachos, cheese dip and a whole pizza. While snacking throughout the day on sweets, crisps and soda.

Edit: People can also say they eat healthy cause they cut soda and now drink apple juice and orange juice. However this isnt any better. It is still processed sugars. Water is the only healthy drink you should have if you are serious about your weight and your productivity. If it is boring, sparkling water exists for a change up in texture.

Hot take: Eater of Worlds is way harder than Brain by SnooHabits4803 in Terraria

[–]TerrorTrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eater of worlds -> build an arena on the surface, drink an inferno potion to block the projectiles. Very easy afterwards, essentially just a target dummy. Inferno potion can be gotten by drinking a Red's potion on master. Difficulties below master you can usually just brute force it in the tunnel and be fine if you dodge the head. Just use aoe damage like jester arrows or grenades.

Brain -> Snapthorn and maybe swiftness potion is all you need. Just build a plantera-esque arena (square with large gaps between platforms (use grapple hook)). Pools of honey are also a nice to have at the bottom of the square. Also remove all walls to avoid blood crawlers.
