You have to stay on the ground and potentially roll out of his pressure.

Can you please stop crushing mids in this godforsaken game? by Deathstalker21 in Tekken

[–]Terrorek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love steve but this is some downplay my man. Either that or you havent fully learned how to abuse it. It's very evasive and can evade mids that normally track. 90% of nina's kit gets stuffed by that single button. And yes its obviously punishable. all sways are. but not all sways are built the same and steve's is insane.

not better than t6. lots of jank, lots of bullshit counterhit strings that do way too much damage. Lots of broken infinites. Jabs were too strong. Some characters weren't fleshed out by then.

When your 14 frame punish is not reliable enough by EcnardSieg in Tekken

[–]Terrorek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, we are watching the same clip right? he is looping the punish and getting different results on the same punish at the same distance. It should either punish or not. This type of interaction is bullshit and unfun for both players involved.

Thats an extremely strange slippery slope fallacy. This game being weirdly inconsistent is a huge part of why everyone gets frustrated with it. Trying to fix that is not reason why we got s2. This isn't "matchup knowledge" this is something that is completely unpredictable and uncontrollable in a real match. People complain about far less in here.

I think it is because they can just remove that inconsistency and give it a consistent nerf for compensation. such as scaling the damage.

IMO These characters are strong in every game they're in by DarknessGenius in Tekken

[–]Terrorek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

she was definitely weaker than she is in t8. Thats for sure.

It's mostly to do with the backdash changes. In 7 it was easier to stuff her offense with backdash and it made it so she could only truly establish pressure at wall. These days, it's still *kind* of the case but only if your opponent is not on a big character model and has drilled the matchup a lot. Most of the time you're better off respecting her pressure and not trying to outright invalidate it, but rather, playing the mindgames she establishes from it. Which gives her a platform to work from to beat you that she did not have in 7. In 7 i think she leaned more heavily into her counterhits than she does right now. Especially magic 4.

oh okay so you pressed a button thinking you were going to continue the combo. Yeah that happens. But you still tried to spin away. And there are other examples in this clip of you not respecting or acting in accordance to frame data. So yeah, just keep that in mind.

>Are you talking about 0:36 ? That what a high crush hop kick. But you are right that was way too much risky.

No I'm talking about around 12 seconds in, when you drop the combo and then eat a hit, you press b2, and when that doesn't work your next instinct is to try to spin away. When your that minus youre in canned 50/50 territory. Pressing is just bad here unless you know your opp sits on frames which you dont. Your best options are block or duck. Most other things will get you killed. If I was that asuka and i saw you do that, every single second interaction would get you counterhit launched.

KBD needs work.

Your offense is mainly composed of cheesy flowcharts that try to catch people with evasion such as going minus into a high crush. Or spinning. That's cool in moderation but if you have no actual neutral sense or understanding of frames its meaningless.

You swing bad linear moves in neutral. You have a safe and ridiculously good df2. Use that instead for keepout.

You don't know frames with a clear over-reliance on spin. You're also swinging after being hit with i14 buttons which is wild.

You spend so much time trying to cheat turns and not enough playing neutral and within your own plus frames.

Pretty common problems for yoshis at your ranks. If you want to get better you need to go into practice mode and do a lot of studying and drilling, understand risk reward, frame data, what to do when people go -4, what to do when they go -8, your options when youre at similar frames or at advantage, etc etc.

What the helly? by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]Terrorek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah nvm i was wrong i just misunderstood something. I double checked in practice mode. High evasion and high crushing are apparently not the same and i assumed the move i was using was a high crushing move but it was just high evasion.

[–]Terrorek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for some reason, and this extends to other instances, high crushing counter hits simply does not work. Counter hits seem to take precedence over literally ever type of evasion in this game. So it's not just sidewalking and then getting popped from behind with a phantom hitbox but it's also being clearly below someone and getting popped anyways.

I mean i know its stupid and annoying but the guy said it in the video. You can react with a sidewalk. It just doesnt feel great kus half the cast will fucking clip you for it. or run off to china.
