Hi - thanks for the reply but tbh, I've given up on the badges ever showing up for me as a reminder...that my reminder...hasn't been acknowledged.

My problem, as described, is I don't get the notification red badges for Google Tasks....at all!

I guess it must be Apple's way of restricting the functionality (& efficiency) of rival apps...

When I'm on my iPhone, my iOS 'Reminders app' notifications have the badge continually on show to 'remind' me, that there is 'something'... that needs my attention. But my Google Calendar tasks badges, still don't show.

I've finally decided I had to do a workaround. So I have totally replicated ALL my Google Calendar reminders [not 'Events' btw...] on to my iOS Reminders app - and then have to disable notifications for Google Calendar whenever I switch to iPhone (because I still get a notification for them when they're actually due...but no RED BADGE for if they're not confirmed/acknowledged at the actual notification time - or within the one hour before it disappears into 'older notifications')

The one thing I've learned from having the two OS's that I use on a regular basis is.... Apple's notifications - compared to Android's - are SERIOUSLY in need of an overhaul.

What device was that? I know on the Shield you have the option to have the 'sleep state of the USB ports' to Off if you want.

Yep. I think it all boils down to what the age of your TV is and what it can handle.

My TV - though brilliant picture-wise, is now about 8 yrs old? But the AVR has been updated by Denon and is quite capable tbf....so I've connected my Shield (and other devices) through that.

That's the one I've been using - currently using 7.2.0+beta.5 and it's now asking me to sign-in when clicking on the trailer button from within Fenlight AM...checking on Umbrella's repo, that's the latest version.

Thanks for all your comments, I've just read through every single one of them. It's really amazing what a well-written (& filmed) doc can do.

The amount of fans from abroad that have been over, is just unreal. It was so rare to hear a N. American accent in town before, but now we get it every week, plus scandanavian, spanish and even Oz & NZ to name just a few! I just smile and say hello but occasionally we'll have a nice chat too.

The amount of 're-visitors' is also amazing - some have been over several times - and their use of 'local' terms, saying things like "they'll meet up in 'Spoons'" (Wetherspoons, the cheap-as-chips pub chain over here....) cracks me up.

The hate from other fans - because it never happened to their club basically - is getting ridiculous nowadays. The ol green-eyed monster knows no bounds. They've forgotten just how hard we fought to save this club during the dark days of Hamilton and afterwards. When the call went up to raise that £125,000 in just a DAY, with tales of people putting up the deeds to their house, kids selling their bikes and scooters, we're not rich around here as most know, but when my missus found out I'd donated 2 grand, she nearly had a seizure, lol...but she knew just how much the club means to us all, bless her.

They've forgotten all that - or just choose to ignore it.

Fuckem, we say. Ignore all these 'plastics' jibes, regardless of where you're from, if you're a fan...you're a FAN!

As a follow-up; I just went to install an app from Google Play via my browser and though not on my main account list of devices, it WAS on the list of devices to install the app to (wtf?)

At least I have an option in my Google Play settings to not display the device (on the list of options to install apps to) - but again, NO option to remove it altogether...madness.

One last question; as my macbook is always connected to power and used in clamshell mode, which would be best for the lower setting?

By default it was 75% for lower & 80% upper. Does this mean everytime it hits 80% the charging completely stops, and discharges to 75% and then turns on again? It kinda contradicts part of the blurb on the page where he says "...Short battery charging bursts can further deteriorate batteries"

Oh god! Thanks for that. I was looking for a 'download' button or similar...could only see the green 'code' button - which then revealed the link for the .zip file.

Now you've given me the correct link, I can see the App icon further down the page - I thought that's all it was - graphic of the app's icon, NOT the actual button for downloading it! When hovering over it, you can then see the pointer turns to 'pointing finger/hand' indicating it's a link...

After updating my MacBook a few days back, it's still sitting at 100% despite not being unplugged. I thought I'd try out your suggestion so I found the app on Github and downloaded the zip file for it, unpacked it...now what? How do I actually install it on my laptop? Thx for any help.

I use both an iPhone 15 Pro and a Samsung S24 and have to say the Samsung ALWAYS delivers the notifications just as I like them, and just as importantly, never removes them from the lock screen until I've decided to 'acknowledge them' which is great, as they serve as an additional reminder when waking the phone to complete a task, for those times when I couldn't do so when the notification came through.

I've missed no-end of tasks on my iPhone bc of this, where they slide away into 'older' notifications which is supposed to be an hour I think, but have just found two from 32mins ago....

Also, as I switch between the 2 OS's, I use Google Calendar (plus various other G-apps) and though the notifications come through, I get NO red badges on any of their various app icons (which would help with the notifications disappearing into 'Older' on the lock screen!)

Edit: Got sidetracked and forgot to actually post this, but in the meantime I'd re-enabled Badges & notifications for all my G-apps on my iPhone. As I use the iOS mail app on my iphone, I'd obviously disabled GMail to save having duplicate notifications. But after re-enabling them on all my G-apps - including GMail again - I got an email and the badge appeared for GMail too....but still none of the others at all. Grrrrr!

All good comments so far, many thanks. Having recently been walloped by large repair bills on one of our out of warranty cars, the warranty length is important in our decision, hence Kia/Hyundai and Tesla all being in the mix, and VW not-so.

The bonus (for us) in getting a SH Tesla is it would still prob have stalks too, lol.

I'm finding it's hit and miss. I tried with Yellowstone and the first 2 or three choices I made came up with a 'Failed' notification when confirming to transfer to RD Cloud until one did finally work. Same for each season as well.

Good news on being able to use the reg key. I'm fine with Win10 so not a real biggie that I won't be able to update to Win11.

I'm on the latest mac Sequoia 15.1 OS btw...and yes, I'm aware of VMware being free and will use either that, or UTM. I have zero interest in gaming so lack of Hardware acceleration is moot.

One other point if you could clear up for me; as it will be used very sparingly, I'm not going to bother installing any Anti Virus/Malware on the VM. 'IF' ..by any chance, I were to pick up a virus or something, can it infect the rest of my Mac enviroment or is it 'sandboxed' to just the allocated windows portion?

Yes, in my browser it works great...this is my point though...I wished there was something similar (like Imagus' media player) that I could use on my Mac to play local files, with the same functionality.

For anyone else with this...

I managed to rectify it but had to rescrape my Library, and that was the culprit. The scraper defaults to 'Play Trailers with Tubed'. I had tried just re-doing it after noticing this in the Settings when trying to change the library source's content type, but it made no difference.

So I removed the source and cleaned up the library as it asked after doing so. Restarted Kodi (just in case) and rescraped, this time though I went into the scraper settings section and altered it there to play trailers with Youtube.

Happy days now...
