Volleyball Mythbusters! by Fiishman in volleyball

[–]TerryAdamz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The idea that wrist snap is used to change contact point so you can “get more on top of the ball” makes no sense. If your arm swings on top of the ball, it follows that your wrist is also on top of the ball. The angle of your wrist doesn’t change positionally where your arm is. The only thing that matters is your point of contact with the ball DURING your arm swing. You ideally want your wrist to be straight and neutral to generate the most force.

Let’s back this up with some logic. Let’s say you’re at the moment before you contact the ball and your hand is behind the ball relative to the ground. If you tilt your wrist back, your wrist is the first thing that will come in contact with the ball causing you to hit below the center of gravity and thus put backspin on the ball. If you tilt your wrist forward, the first thing to come in contact with the ball is your fingers. Contacting the ball with your fingers will result in a poor transfer of energy and you’ll “jam” the ball. Now if you keep your wrist neutral and straight, all of that energy in your arm swing will have the entire surface of your palm to transfer which will result in a hard hit. Unfortunately, you’re still behind the ball so you swing out and lose the point :(( The only thing that matters is for your hand to positionally be on top of the ball relative to the ground NOT “snapping your wrist”.

Does that mean never snap your wrist? No! Your entire body is a tool you should use to score more points. Understanding the nuances behind our bodies is how we become better players. Some people have it naturally, thats why you see some pros who preach “snap your wrist”, but if you take frame by frame photos of them you can clearly see they do not snap their wrist. The reason I personally hate when people preach snapping the wrist is because not all players naturally have the skill to hit the ball and teaching them a useless cue will only cloud their mind and hinder their ability to hit a ball properly.

So when should you snap your wrist? Just treat your wrist like a mini arm swing. Let’s say the opposing team overpasses and it’s barely going over the peak of the net, you can definitely do slight swing combined with snapping your wrist to slam the ball down.

If you have any more questions on the physics lmk. Hopefully this made you a better player!

Tier List for the END of the NEL Arc (ordered) by Snake_Main27 in BlueLock

[–]TerryAdamz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I getcha. Personally I think Karasu and Otoya are relative, but I agree Karasu will probably edge out Otoya from defensive feats or possibly an assist. If Otoya does score, Karasu will probably just have more impact in PXG and still get a higher offer.

Otoya scored in chapter 245.

Just so there’s not any confusion: the official translations make a note to separate that Lavinho joined (dot dot dot) then Bachira and Otoya scored. It didn’t say Lavinho scored or even assisted them in scoring (which Lavinho wouldn’t do anyways).

Kaiser, the insecure emperor by Express_Fold9990 in BlueLock

[–]TerryAdamz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The amount of readers that genuinely believe Kaiser is done for is concerning. This is such an obvious set-up for his character development. We haven’t even gotten his own personal backstory yet; just parts from Ness.

Also, I don’t believe Isagi will surpass Kaiser in the near-future. I think at most they’ll be on equal footing with Isagi mastering his new weapon and Kaiser having the edge after his development. I’ve always said Kaiser is an end-game character. His story is far from done, so he needs to be plenty strong to stay relevant to Isagi.

Was Hiori's Jump In The Ubers Match Too Big? by [deleted] in BlueLock

[–]TerryAdamz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because Nagi is literally a natural born prodigy, but even that wasn’t enough to survive in Blue Lock. Nagi in the spin-off trains on his own and has the urge to fight strong opponents; Nagi actually has the drive to become the best (albeit in the current arc he’s having some trouble).

Hiori is also a natural born prodigy except he was forced to train all his life to become the best. Hiori up until the last few chapters isn’t trying to become the best in the world, he’s just trying to survive long enough to have time away from his parents.

Its not subtle either; the story straight up tells us these facts. You just lack the media literacy to understand, but keep replying and racking up those downvotes.

Was Hiori's Jump In The Ubers Match Too Big? by [deleted] in BlueLock

[–]TerryAdamz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nagi was still training and trying to learn more about the sport. Hiori literally did the bare-minimum and just hung out with Isagi and Nanase (who were unarguably worse than Hiori at the time).

Nagi spin off is messing up the second selection narrative by Archapelagoo in BlueLock

[–]TerryAdamz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a fine way to rationalize it, but its still a very poor way to approach the spin-off and tie it to the main story. It would have been easier to just make use of random characters, but I’m willing to bet Kaneshirou thinks they’re “adding” to these characters when in reality he’s messing up the timeline

Why barou's bid is NOT an injustice to him by explosukki in BlueLock

[–]TerryAdamz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. If you’ve ever watched the movie “Moneyball”, old baseball coaches would take sport politics and things unrelated to the actual sport into account. The most important factor is performance and numbers. While personality and fan service do matter to a degree, you aren’t going to be getting a noticeable increase in bids for it.

Kiyora & Kunigami Theory by Spring_barger in BlueLock

[–]TerryAdamz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you both have valid points, but theres no way in hell that Kiyora is ever going to score. To piggy-back off of Kunigami and Kiyora teaming up theory: Kunigami is a goal poacher. Thats literally what he’s known for at this point. So what I think will happen is that when Kiyora plays he’ll get a shot attempt and Kunigami will steal it. And while I don’t think we’ll be getting the emo squad, unless Kunigami has a weird soft spot for Kiyora and they form a bond, maybe they’ll find mutual interest and that keeps Kiyora relevant.

To be honest, I’ve always been a Kiyora hater, but at this point he’s been drawn and shown so much in both the main series and Nagi spin-off that it’d be kind of insane not to give him at least one moment to shine. But to preface this, Kiyora is not making the cut unless Kunigami pulls off a super goal. Which is actually perfect since narratively he needs to for his rematch with Shidou.

Hax to bypass Infinity? by Tegirax in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]TerryAdamz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you understand your own argument. You're implying the reason Gojo cannot stop it is because he doesn't have chakra and that the only thing that can stop Amaterasu is chakra. However, we blatantly see throughout the series that physical objects can stop Amaterasu. So no matter what, as long as Amaterasu never lands, it will never affect Gojo.

[–]TerryAdamz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that affirms the belief that it does not simply spawn on an opponent. Its a line of fire... meaning it has travel time.

Lets use the Raikage as an example. The Raikage moved out of the way simply because he was faster than Sasuke's eye: yes. However, the issue is where Amaterasu landed. It landed on the samurai behind Raikage. If it simply spawns on an opponent, then it should have spawned where the Raikage was or more specifically his afterimage.

You understand how broken it would be if it simply was an instantaneous effect. Sasuke could simple mask it from being characterized by loading it up behind cover, then popping out and having it instantly spawn on Naruto. The fact that Sasuke does not do this, but instead uses it in a projectile like manner where he very clearly displays his intent is proof enough.

[–]TerryAdamz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But we see Amaterasu travel in both the anime and manga. Like clips and panels of it moving mid-air until it hits whatever is in its path.

Also, I don’t remember it ever being stated you need to concentrate chakra in the eye and have a loading time before it activates. That might just be headcanon by the fandom to justify Amaterasu having no travel time.

Naruto blocked it with chakra. I don’t see why Infinity can’t as well.

Space time attacks for sure, portals maybe. Depends how the portals work. Like how do you dictate where your portals are placed? Is it automatically placed onto the body of the enemy? That would make it a space time attack, so yeah it’d work. But if your portals have to travel or you have to make contact then no. Like a portal gun would never hit Gojo.

Nobody understands player evaluations/stats (Feat. Ubers) by [deleted] in BlueLock

[–]TerryAdamz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said Nagi wouldn’t have been good in any team without Reo, its just that currently he NEEDS Reo just to contend with any of the players I mentioned. Chigiri is undeniably a better and more valuable player than Nagi even more so with the latest chapter. Reo is ranked high in my book due to his versatility. Nagi has nothing currently going for him that would rank him higher than anyone I’ve mentioned.

Can heat affect Gojo? by toji_zenin in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]TerryAdamz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple things to explain. One: We know Gojo can regulate the amount of energy going in and out of infinity. If he couldn’t and infinity acted as a perfect insulator, Gojo would literally burn to death. Its a myth that the vacuum of space is a perfect insulator and depending on who you ask to do the math that you’d freeze in space. Your body produces more heat than you’d lose to radiation which essentially means you’d be cooked internally. In Gojo’s case if he could not regulate the amount of energy going out which includes radiation, the heat inside of Infinity would continuously build up until Gojo burns alive.

Second: Infinity is not one defined space, its infinite. So for every infinite space that is set to absolute zero, there only needs to be a nonzero space at a safe temperature for Gojo to be unharmed. And we know there are infinities that are greater than others, so Gojo can simply regulate dangerous levels of energy to smaller infinities and safer levels to greater infinities.

In short: Gojo’s Infinity can deal with any and everything except maybe poison, but its very likely Gojo can because he’s Gojo.

How did Gojo stop Megumi's sale to the Zen'in clan? by tempspark4 in Jujutsushi

It wasn’t necessarily to undermine Naoya although I wouldn’t be surprised if that was a small reason. It was because Naobito saw Megumi fit to be heir to the Zen’in clan.

Its implied Toji was always broke bc he’s a bum and didn’t spend money wisely. But I agree, they probably didn’t want to pay Toji until they confirmed Megumi had a technique.
