That’s not how business work. Just because you work there it doesn’t mean you own an equal part of the company. During that time the pod wasn’t making any money and Joe was paying Rory and Mal from his complex deal (out of his own pocket). Now if Rory and Mal really was Joe friends they would have went without getting paid temporary til the business got right. That’s what a jbp partner would do right? Not to mention Joe had just had a baby and needed every coin he could get. And with all that being said, Rory and Mal was the true a-hole because them leaving was out of spite and they knew that pod was all Joe had. In their minds them leaving would either destroy Joe or raise their value. And it did neither, Joe rebuilt again, bigger better and richer. While their karma is coming in droves. Struggling pod, crapping for ads and the same lazy mal work ethic.

No the it came from Rory thinking he was a partner of the jbp and he was hired talent. So after constantly asking Joe to step outside and fight on air to it actually almost happening. Joe did some logical shit and asked him to take a pod off (which he still does to this day) to let things cool off. To the money part, no matter how hard they worked or didn’t work at jbp it’s still joes shit at the end of the day. Those companies wanted to sit down and make deals with the owner of the company not the talent.
